This Thursday I'm going to london for a few days. Apart from all the compulsary stuff (tower, st. Pauls, etc.) I also planned to see if I can find some good games.
Do any of the London members know a good place?
And I heard Sega World, that huge arcade, went out of business. Is that true?

Sega World still exists within the Trocadero... just undergone a bit of a change since it first appeared

CEX on Rathbone Street (just off Oxford Street) and a different import place just off Tottenham Court Road are good place to start. Though CEX no longer does import Nintendo games sadly. There's a place down near Carnaby St and Notting Hill as well I think. Frankly for the size of the city, there's not much import/retro action at all!

Thanks, I'll see if I can find some of those stores.
It's not that bad if they don't have much retro stuff. I'm mainly interested in post saturn gaming anyway.

I was just in London and stopped at some stores - check out that CEX off of Oxford Circle; a little expensive on some things (more or less EB style pricing), but you can buy everything from NeoGeo to a Towns Marty there. It's hilarious seeing what "import" (US) games sell for in England - psx games that you couldn't sell for 2 bucks here are priced at 20!

Other than that, I came up dry. There are a few EB-style new game stores on Oxford Street, but way, way overpriced. None of the used record stores that I checked sold videogames, which was a change from here.

CeX (www.cex.co.uk) is still worth a visit, but the prices are getting out of hand. Also visit the Japan Shop at Picadilly, but again, very expensive for video game related stuff (no import games anymore since C&E visited London a few years back). You can still find figurines and video game music CD's.
Also visit Chinatown, for example there you find three shops full of DVD's and VCD's (anime and such), 50 in 1 Game Boy carts (sometimes) and loads of video game related material, not so much games anymore (again, because of C&E).
Go to Raven Games (www.ravengames.co.uk) in South London, it's gaming heaven.
And Retrogames in Bletchley (www.retrogames.co.uk)

Travel out of London, if you can. Visit Bracknell for one of the best Video game shops by the Station.
Travel further to Bournemouth and visit Video Game Centre (www.videogamecentre.co.uk), run by a good friend of mine, Martin.

I hope this helps....

Retrogames doesn't exist any more... well the shop doesn't. He quit the retail business about a year ago, but still does mail order...

Uh, you're right, I forgot. Dammit Jason.

OK, subscribe to Retrogames fanzine. I submit articles and I was voted best fanzine article writer of the year (plug, plug...) by the readers, so you know it's good...

Well, this thread is a little old so I was wondering if the stores mentioned earlier still exsists or if they have been shut down or moved or something?
You are also very welcome to write down any other gameshop that is not mentioned earlier, I mostly like retrogames!

I hope you guys know something cause I´m leaving for London tomorrow morning!
Thanks in advance!

Yep both stores still exist: CEX on Rathbone Street and Game Focus on Goodge Street. Both are near Oxford Street and Tottanham Court Road.

I visited CEX just before christmas. Nice selection, a little pricey on most stuff though...and (almost) no SFC stuff :(
