Hey all, sorry for being so slow in getting the details out, but there will be a classic gaming show in Seattle at the end of this month. Jet City Retro will be in Seattle's University District at the Hotel Deca. The entry fee is $20 for both days, and $15 for just one day.

In case you didn't hear, there will be three rooms, a vendor's hall, a classic console freeplay room, and a guest speaker/tournament room. There will also be a midnight screening of the videogame documentary "High Score" on Saturday night.

I'm still working on getting the website up, but those of you who are interested in finding out more, please post here, and I'll try to answer questions and get more information online asap.

In the meantime, enjoy this image I had made up for the flyer :

I wanted to add that Jet City Retro is a Northwest Classic Gaming Expo Event. Nate is part of NWCGE and put alot of blood and sweat into making this event special. I recommend anyone who can go, as there will be some great deals and video game related items that will be at the show. From what I have seen so far, this one going to be great! Nate, I will be there for Sat, and I will be driving Rick and Brian(speciality gamer) to the show. I also will try to post on craigslist for you. Thanks, John :)

Sweet!!! How much to be a vendor? And can you set up for only 1 day? I know I can be there on the 27th but the 26th is questionable.

Thanks Rick!

I don't have 1-day pricing for vendors, since I'm unable to re-sell the booth on Saturday.

One other thing to mention is that Vendors will be invited to the Friday mixer at The District Jazz club in the hotel. There will be free food and drinks for all vendors. Vendors also receive free tickets to the midnight showing of "High Score" at the movie theatre across the street.

Brian has a full writeup along with more details for vendors at his website: http://www.specialtygamer.com/features/events/jet-city-retro-april-26-and-27/

Jet City Retro is still going on, but on Sat I had a blast(I could only stay one day with Rick Weis) Nate help put on a great show, and I feel for its first year, I look forward to seeing what the show has to offer next year. I have set up my humble camera pics for everyone one see. I also took a pic of some of the things that I personally scored at the show. It was awsome to be able to chat with some DP members, and I espically enjoyed talking to Y-bot, Qixmaster, Coreys429, Rick Weis, Anotherfluke, Systemfreak, and all others not mentioned. It was a smaller show, but was EXTREMELY CLASSY. I enjoyed the laid back environment, and everyone was totally nice. The room that Nate hooked up many with was quite frankly one of the nicest hotel rooms I have stayed in years. Thank you Nate for putting on this show, and I look forward to seeing what future events are in store. Me and Rick will be helping with our Portland Show in September. If you are intered, give me or Rick Weis a PM.

Nick (aka Papa Colby's), I appreciate that you want to participate in this forum but please don't use my name.

For the record any comments made by this person have nothing to do with the real Colby, me (aka Jahvybe). "Papa Colby's" was an inside joke among my friends and I, regarding an imaginary video game store that included among other things live reenactments of retro video games, like super mario bros. (Imagine tennis balls soaked in lighter fluid and lit as fire balls and other ridiculous ideas). Unfortunately Nick found out about it and registered with dp as "Papa Colby's." Nick is a friend of my brother in law's that came with us to Jet City Retro, and has been known to say the wrong thing at the wrong time on many occasions. So please don't associate his comments with me.

By the way, Jet City Retro was Awesome.

Thanks,
Colby

Yay, I'm finally on Digital Press.

It was good to have been there this year.

With the exception of a couple things I would've liked to have seen done differently, it was a good show.

I posted my thoughts over at the AtariAge boards (http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=123718) first in case anyone is interested.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about this year's show! Putting the show together in the short timeframe that I gave myself was a big stresspoint for me, and parts of the show suffered because of it, but I think that many other things happened beautifully. More than anything, I have a ton of great feedback, data, and ideas for making next year's show bigger and better!

Obviously, promoting and advertising the show much earlier is a key priority for me this year. I have my reasons for waiting so long before acting on the show, and I can go into the whole backstory for JCR if people really want to hear it, but my point is that the biggest improvement I can make for next year's show is to, well, promote the hell out of it.

For those of you that did attend this year's show, I'd love to hear some more feedback on things you'd like to see added or changed for JCR '09. The two main improvements I'll be making are:

1. More promotion and advertising, earlier
2. More organized and varied programming (contests, tournaments, speakers)

If you have specific suggestions on these two points (places I should advertise, specific exhibitors/speakers), I'd love to hear them. Otherwise, I'm really interested to get feedback on other aspects of the show from both vendors and attendees. Please give me your thoughts on areas like registration, the vendor hall, the console freeplay room and rock band stage, or any other things you'd like to see at the show that we didn't have this year.

Nathan, I think you did a great job with the show. I like Matt's idea of a screening of some sort of video game documentary. Also some more arcade games would have been cool. There are a ton of people from Seattle on the klov.com message board and I'm sure someone would be willing to loan/rent some arcade games. Something to draw people in on the second day would be good. An exclusive game for sale maybe. The hotel and general location were great. As was the artwork created for the show. I saw a poster in Aladdin's Gyro-Cery store but I didn't see any others in the few other places I visited. I'm not sure if you did this or not but gathering email addresses at the registration area would probably be a good idea.

want to thank Nate for putting this show together, i know it's a lot of work! and i'm sure next year will be better planed and have a better turnout. personally for me i had a blast at the show, i think i spent more time talking to people then in any other shows i have been to.

as to the location, i liked it very much, hotel staff was the most friendly i have ever seen, loved the layout of the vendors room. one thing that was a bit weird was having the other 2 rooms far from the vendors room. (maybe it was just me but it seemed far away)

once again thanks Nate for making it happen! looking forward to next years jet city retro! and hope to see you all at our next NWCGE portland show.

Take Care,

I'd love to do another Jet City Retro again this year, but it's probably not going to happen. I got engaged last year, so a lot of my money and time are going to that, and I've been focusing on improving the game library that is used by the two major conventions in Seattle, SakuraCon and PAX.

If you guys want to see NWCGE represented in Seattle, definitely come to SakuraCon or PAX's Classic Console gaming rooms!
