Here is my today's tip for my fellow retro gamers...

Don't blow into a cartridge if you have a dip/chaw/chew/dobbler/dobski in. The results can be messy.

Anyone else made a fatal mistake such as this? Not necesarily chewing tobacco, but a fat as loogie?!?!?!!

GROSS!!!!

I think the manufacturers assumed the kids playing the games wouldn't be chewing tobacco.

Seriously. That's a nasty habit. Stop making games smell!

Games aren't only limited to kids silly!! And yes, I am quitting chewing tobacco too.

Here is today's tip: Don't blow into cartridges. Get some rubbin' alcohol and clean them, instead.

Well, that possibly explains the condition of a few of the grosser looking carts I've seen in the wild.

If that doesn't work, try the white eraser method. Did miracles on the few games that wouldn't work no matter how much I cleaned with alcohol.

I personally don't support that one - if there's corrosion or something nasty on a cart's contacts, there's still ways of getting it off (baking soda and vinegar in the case of corrosion, I believe). Don't think it should harm anything, though.

I've always used the eraser method and have had only one cartidge, out of thousands, that I couldn't get to work.

Know what? I clean all my games with a q-tip and alcohol... but sometimes they just won't play without blowing in em. Coincidence? Who knows!
