Alien syndrome 9.99 psp used

The 360 usb fan cooler with the vga out not the intercooler New 14.99 down from 29.99

god am i getting tired of these price drop / clearance threads.

THIS IS NOT CHEAPASSGAMER.COM!

if its 1 AMAZING deal, then great, it deserves a post. but this is freaking ridiculous.

this should have its own forum if anything.

Agreed.

Mod's: Can we nip this shit in the bud? This isn't cheapassgamer. Put these types of threads in another forum. It can't be that hard.

Well sorry poofta. It is just that alot of us frequent stores in search of deals and alot of times the sticker price doesn't reflect the actual price so I just figured it would be great to have a thread to reflect good used price drops.
So we can be on it. It is not cheap ass gamer but we love good deals.

dude, me too, yes, we all shop at these stores, and we all love bargains (i just spend 150$ on the 35% off used ps2/xbox/gc used games sale at Gamestop), but this isnt the place for them!

-but-

go to www.cheapassgamer.com which has a HUGE entire forum for *only* these kinds of threads and deal, and another for dvds and another for .... etc etc.

the current front page of DP Modern gaming has 5 freaking price drop/sale threads. this is not where it belongs.

Fair enough The only reason I didn't list in the others was because I didn't want to take it off topic.

I honestly do not see a problem with these threads. So just cause IGN.com posts all the news and reviews and media for games, does that mean we don't need to go to 1UP.com or Gamespot.com either? That logic makes no sense. Just cause there is a site that gives us cheap prices on games we shouldn't share the knowledge else where? What if some people aren't registered on CAG and they can't see those deals. Maybe this site should have a forum for that kinda stuff, but don't whine just cause we are trying to help eachother find good deals on games so we don't have to pay full price. How come no one complains about the Buying/Selling forum? That is basically the same as CAG's trader section too.

I can understand if the content is bothering people in the Modern Gaming forum but honestly there is no where else to post it unless a new forum is created.

Well sorry...

No worries, man. People have been posting these threads forever. The camels back was bound to break one day or another. You just happened to be the guy that posted that final straw. I don't think anybody is taking issue with you, this is just their way of bringing it to topic.

EDIT: I remember MS:A being $25 at GS last I checked. I'm probably wrong though. $18 is a better deal but I still won't be picking it up. The only Gameboying I do is on a micro, and I've tried playing MS:A on it. The screen is just too small for MS.

I meant no offense to you. It's the overall situation that needs correcting, not just this specific post.

I don't have a problem with these threads either ... the simple solution to "too many" would be to consolidate them to ONE "deals" thread **EDIT** AND/OR sub-forum.

I'm as frugal as they come, I buy a LOT of games, yet it's actually a pretty rare occasion that I buy anything on launch.

Nothing says "acceptable time to purchase" than a game being less than $20.

Personally I'm STILL waiting for Cooking Mama for Wii to crack the $19.99 price point new or used so I can pick it up ... but GameStop and Majesco are really holding tight on that ones (way too high IMO) MSRP of $30. I mean, christ, it's been out for almost a year.

I can see the desire to cut back on bargain threads. But to get rid of all of them? That's a bit preposterous. Why not just have one (like this one, for instance) and possibly keep it stickied (like the 'finds' threads)?

Why not add a subforum to the marketplace header or expand the what's it worth subforum to include these types of threads? At least that way the threads should more in line with the purpose of the subforum.

I vote subforum in marketplace if something's going to be done-I do enjoy 'deals' threads as much as the next guy, but there's just been a huge influx of them lately.

Putting it all in one thread makes for a read that's too long and easy to pass over stuff.

There's no reason not to have a thread like this. If you frequent CAG, you're invited not to click on deal threads here.

No one is suggesting people should stop posting these "deal" threads. They should just be in their own forum section at DP...not in Modern Gaming.

We are in the midst of discussing where these kinds of threads are going to go and how they will be handled. Give us a few days to come to a consensus and we'll make the announcement once thats happened.

this is THE_BEST solution. honestly.

i dont care if we mimic and copy/paste ALL of cheapassgamer.... just not in Modern Gaming (funny thing is, a lot of these games can almost be considered classic at this point, but thats besides the point)

Agreed... those deal sites can really become a mess with all the duplicate threads, and it would be good to not have to sort through all the deal threads in modern or classic gaming...

Also... maybe there's a way to not display them on the home page, every time a new "deal" is posted.

I too also love great deals... and surf multiple deal sites daily. And it would help if some of the people posting deals here, would frequent some of the other sites to see proper etiquette and guidelines for posting deals. For example, I find local deals all the time at certain stores- but posting every deal I see as a seperate thread, on a daily basis would be useless to most, if not all members on here. It's also kind of dumb to start a whole thread dedicated to a single game, unless it's a new release or super hard to find.

What is etiquette for posting deals and lower prices? I think alot of this is over the top. Alot of people here like sharing of information and are constantly hunting good deals.

So there was no real guidelines for this okay.
But one of the reasons I posted what I did because I didn't want to hijack another members thread Example if he was specifically talking about gameboy or circuit city etc. And I fequently look for good deals in shops and when i find something I feel is good then I share the info. I don't think there is nothing wrong with that.

Here is the crazy part if it something someone has been waiting for it is okay if it something that one is not interested in it is annoying. I seen the gba thread I have pass that portion of my collecting but the thread didn't bother me.

I personally think that one of the big reasons that there is alot of deals lately is because it is a transition period for a lot of systems. The xbox ps2 and gamecube ,gameboy and gba. To each his own but I know something can be worked out.
There is a common ground somewhere. One more note. People that love the hunt read the monthly finds from page 1. People that look for and love deals will have no problem click through pages as well. Come to think of it I should have posted it there but I thought since I didn't buy some things it disqualified me.

Maybe etiquette isn't the right word... but my whole point is there has to be rules and guidelines, like every other forum on here (the deal sites have them too). The "everything ebay" has them, so do the "buying and selling" forums. If there is no organization to such a forum, it could get to be more of a pain in the ass than a convenience to read. And from the looks of some of the deal threads and topics I've seen here recently, I'd rather go to cheapassgamer- because of the structure and organization of their deal threads. Some members are doing their cause more harm than good by how they've been posting these deals. I think a lot of the frustration stems from a recent flood of such deal threads covering redundant information.

I'm really not trying to be an a-hole... I'm just saying this whole "deal posting" needs a little more ironing out to make other members happy. I'm really staring to beat a dead horse... so I apologize.

Admittedly, I was a member here for years before joining CAG (I didn't realize it was free to sign up at first, among other things), and back then, I appreciated the deal-related threads that members occasionally posted here. But now I'm a member of CAG, and I realize that I was ignorant back then.

Here's the deal: Cheapass Gamer does deals well, Digital Press does classic gaming and (mostly) douchebag-free modern gaming well. CAG's trading forums are good for trading new, cheap clearance stuff, DP's trading forums are good for trading classic games and higher-end items. DP will never do what CAG does as well as CAG, and CAG will never do what DP does as well as DP. So, in the posting of these deal threads on DP, which has indeed seen an influx lately, DP is risking becoming a pale imitation of CAG, and is getting away from what it excels at. DP should stick to what it does best, and people who do want to see deal threads here should sign up at CAG and shut the fuck up. When people start clogging up CAG's deals forums with questions about how to beat Giygas and what the rarest TG16 game is, I'll say the same damn thing.

I really don't think people come to dp strictly looking for a deals. It is just a by product of gaming discussion itself. It is a thin line yet a part of gaming. So why don't we tone down the rhetoric because there is no right or wrong and offer up possible solutions while this is under advisement and discussion with the powers that be.

Maybe and Idea will stand out.

I pretty much agree with sirhansirhan on this one. Maybe we could have a monthly "Deals" thread, like the Finds thread?
