I have noticed lately that the perceived value of Ghostbusters for the Genesis has gone through the roof. Any ideas why? The game hasn't gotten any better.

I'm guessing that with the eventual release of a Modern Ghostbusters and all the recent movie talk has driven up interest and a 3 buck game is now going for 10-15 (or whatever it is selling for). I like to call it the FF VII syndrome.

AVGN did a video involving it, too.

That's the culprit, right there.

That's funny because I call that exact sentence you typed the FF VII syndrome. ;-)

It's definitely the upcoming next gen (can we say current gen yet?) version of the game which is actually supposed to be the 3rd part of the movie storyline. I don't think there's going to be a new movie though.

AVGN is a conspiracy. He buys a lot of a crappy game, reviews it, drones demand to buy, and he sells off for a profit. It's a racket I tell you.

Truthfully I hear he's a good guy and it's a shame he's casted evade twice at conventions I've been to and rolled a 6. One day he won't cancle a pannel. Reminds me of the horrible anime reviewer at Otakon that runs bad anime pannels then sells original prints for cheap in the dealers room to share the experience of wasting a dollar. Without these people though there would be a lack of extra entertainment in the hobbies. It is a true enjoyment in showing off the downfalls and shortcommings of ideas, cracking jokes all the way. Also it attracts and welcomes outsiders into our tangent cultures, making it that much more popular and allowing more possibilities in the hobby.

The last I heard there was a CG movie being discussed. Something along the lines of TMNT. I think Bill Murray said that there was no way that he would do another live action Ghostbusters movie.

That was awhile ago. He may have changed his mind since then. Even so. I don't see why they can't do something like Ghost busters Extreme. I didn't think that was a bad show. That has "needs cameo" written all over it though...

Ackroyd finished the script several years back. Bill Murray supposedly refused to do a live action version, so CGI was thought of next. Given the costs and the fact that it probably wouldn't sell in theaters, I guess the game is what we'll get. Very sad, but Bill Murray only does movies now where he doesn't have to move around more than 2 feet.

As for the Ghostbusters Genesis cost, I think it was always a bit rarer, since nobody bought it back then. The AVGN certainly increased the demand, which is odd since his review wasn't too kind.

It was very kind to the Genesis version.

Yeah, he really liked the Genesis version, calling it the only good game in the franchise.

I happen to love the Genesis version. Played it to death as a kid. I was a Ghostbusters fanatic.

Really? Which one? I can only seem to find the review of the NES version (which is rather epic).

The one titled "conclusion" has the Genesis version.

Personally, I'd like to know what he thought of the Data East arcade game.

the only thing i can remember about the genesis' ghostbuster game was that it was way better than that crappy NES version, today i received my copy of ghostbuster II for the famicom, made by HAL, and so far its good.
