i picked up a copy of vandal hearts for ps1 today. It is sealed but seems to be a strange seal. Do different games have different seals? How do you know if the seal is original?
I have some sealed games for ps1 that dont have the white sticker with the game name on top?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Usually for typical cd cases, the seal is going to have folds on the top and bottom of the plastic opposed to a melted line. When they use a shrinkwrap machine there wil be some melted lines when they cut the plastic and it's rare that a factory sealed game will have any melted lines on the wrapping. If a factory seal does have the melted lines then the shrinkwrap will typically have little air holes accross the wrap where a reseal from a place like Gamestop doesn't have that.

I can confirm that Vandal Hearts originally had some funky shrinkwrap, as did some other games (Alundra is another that comes to mind). They stopped using the white security strip on Playstation 2 games, so I would guess the only psone games without the strip would be the recent reprints (such as Persona 2 and Rhapsody). Not sure about that though.

one more thing, there are pieces of plastic on the back of the game on the shrinkwrap, they appear to be from the plastic hooks they used to hang games on racks. So that would almost confirm the seal is original, right? did any retailers shrinkwrap their games and hang them from racks?

Can you post a picture of the game in question?

At least in Europe, there are small PlayStation-symbols printed on the line to zip open.

ALL ps1 games had the white security tab. EXCEPT the GQD rereleases (persona 2, rhapsody and i believe that "journey west" games saiyuki?)
almost 99% had a Y-seal type of plastic around the game
some (very few) had the white security tab but were sealed in shrink wrap (the heat gun type). i have a working designs/SPAZ game name of which i cant recall that is like this, nevertheless it could be a reseal.
