View Full Version : XBOX 360 Core - Won't Play Movies Widescreen?

Ok... not having much luck trouble shooting this issue on Xbox.com but I recently bought (today) a new TV, and a core 360. If I switch the coponent cable to "tv" I can watch movies in widescreen. But if I switch it to HDTV and set my my resolution to 720p, while games play in widescreen, DVDs do not. Why? Help. :/

Nevermind. Found my answer now that my husband has left me alone... >.>
Wasn't the xbox. Had to do with how my TV displays different screen ratios. Bah.

My first thought was that your DVDs weren't anamorphic widescreen (read: they don't take up the entire frame, but instead display as widescreen within the confines of a fullscreen window), but that doesn't seem to be the case. Either way, now that you've got a widescreen TV, double-check DVDs you buy to make sure they're anamorphic, 16x9, or say in so many words that they're enhanced for widescreen televisions. Generally it's only older releases and small releases that aren't anamorphic, but a few still slip by from time to time.
