All at the same garage sale:

Sega master system w/light gun & 3 games

Top loader NES w/4 games

Vectrex w/light pen(boxed) & 8 games (all boxed &complete) :o

All for the sum of $25 :D

I came across these systems in the order they are written. The garage tables were set up horse shoe style. I was happy to see the sms, excited to see the top loader and nearly shit myself when I came across the vectrex. I guarded that thing like a wolverine protects it young.

I love wives who sell their whipped husband's childhood things. This is just what the lady said to me. She was glad to get rid of the junk and that her husband would never miss it. Needless to say, I had a grin on my face. I waited until I got in the car with everything before I celebrated.

I dunno, I find that just a wee bit callous. I try not to get involved in yard sales, auctions, etc. where it seems like that's the case. Makes me want to buy the stuff and then give it back to the guy in question. :/

One of my best finds ever was finding Peek-A-Boo Poker and Hot Slots (both complete) at a local video store for $5 each. That was 5 years ago when I started collecting and I didn't realize how rare they were when I first got them. I almost traded them off for a boxed Channel F system but came to my senses at the last moment and backed out of the trade.

Another great find of mine was a untouched 'heavy sixer' I picked up at a garage sale for $7. Thing was totally mint and looked like it was never played. The joysticks and paddles were even sealed in their boxes. Ended up selling it on ebay for $685 a couple years ago.

The wife was not selling the games without the husband consent, she had talked him into getting rid of them. They both decided to sell them and set the price. Why should I feel guilty about that?? At least they will be appreciated by me.

My best find was probably my Vectrex. It was being sold at a fair at a school in my home town. It had two controls, the box, and an overlay for Minestorm. I got it for $3.

Oh yeah, I also bought a box of Atari 2600 games and the system for $30. There were about 50 games, including a Galaxian prototype.

These are the best finds of mine that I can think of.

Can you explain that one in more detail?? Why so cheap??? Also, what are some of the best games and pinball machines?? Where did you put them all?? Do you have a building or warehouse?? What did you do with them??

I went to one yard sale once where there were three kids, maybe 3 5 and 8 years old. The yard sale was almost exclusively kids' toys and these kids were all very, very upset. Each time we picked something up one of the kids would get this very pained expression. It looked like daddy was out of work and they were selling off the kids' toys! I couldn't deal with it, bought about ten things and handed them back to the kids before I went to my car. The kids looked very, very happy... though I have no way of knowing whether or not those toys went right back on sale...

That said, my best find was probably the four NIB Laseractive TG modules I found at Building 19. The boxes had wear and they were still $208 each... but damn, man, had to pick them up anyway. I'm in the process of trading 3 of them off now.

None of my 'best' finds have been anything rare, more just personal favourites that I'd been looking for, for a long long time!

Stunt Race FX (SNES) - It had no box, no manual and was slightly over priced ($15 AUS), but I didn't care - I goto my favourite video game of all time back after so many years.

Top Gear 3000 (SNES) - Another personal favourite. I'd been searching for it for ages as I'd only ever hired it twice for my SNES and had never seen it in th shops. When I found it, it was again, loose and $20 AUS (very over-priced) but I got it anyway. To this day I have not seen the game anywhere so the $20 I handed over for it wasn't so bad!

Super NES console - This was my first item to buy as a budding collector. I'd seen a lot of pre-owned SNES's at Cash Converters (Australia's major 2nd hand retailer), all of 'em without boxes for about $30 AUS. But then, one day at an Electronics Boutique I happened to mention to the guy there I was looking for SNES 'cause I wanted one so badly! He said "Oh a SNES! I've got one of those out the back!" He brought it out (boxed, manual extras etc.) and said I could have it for $20 AUS!! I immediately handed over the cash (also got Super Mario Kart with it).

That's probably my favourite 'finds'.

My best find really wasn't a 'find"... it was a trade.

I was on a mailing list with a lot of UK gamers on it. I posted that I was looking for a copy of the UK-only Sega 32x game DarXide (one of the rarest and certainly most expensive of all the 32x rarities) as well as FIFA Soccer. A guy e-mailed me saying that he had FIFA Soccer and could possibly find DarXide in London. He wanted a Super Nintendo in trade.

He e-mailed me a week later, saying he had found DarXide and was sending both 32x games to me. I went to a local Toys R' Us where they were clearing out the smaller-sized SNES for $25. I bubblewrapped the box lovingly (no tape directly on the box) and slid in in another box that was JUST big enough to hold the wrapped SNES. It cost another $25 to ship it air mail.

A week later, I got both games, complete in great shape.

I've only seen DarXide come up on E-bay in the two years since then... both times it was a seller in Italy or France or someting, and both times the game went for $400. Had I not traded for my copy, I still wouldn't have the game, and my complete 32x collection would not be complete... it would be one game short!

:-D

Hey Norkusa remember the page long list of systems, games and computer items I offered for those Panesian games and had all the items described and rated on a scale in the 2 page long email. Yeah that was a while ago. I remember getting an email fro another guy saying that Norton wouldn't budge. Now as I remember that user name had to do with your last name but I still remember that. -_-

Huh? Who the hell is Norton? Me? Sorry if I hurt your feelings becasue I didn't see anything on your list I wanted to trade for. x_x
