I brought this up in another topic but all the links that were supplied to me were dead. I heard that you can connect to the internet with your Dreamcast to browse the web and play games if you go through your PC's modem.

I've scoured google but only find articles to dead links or terribly confusing explanations. Im currently running Ubuntu Linux on the computer I'd like to do this through but if necessary I could probably Frankenstein a PC together out of random parts in my house and I may have a copy of Windows laying around that I could use. As always all of your feedback is MUCH appreciated.

I believe you can still connect directly to the internet (dial-up only without the expensive Broadband Adapter) so you can surf the web, but I don't know about playing games anymore. I would hazard a guess that you'd have to locate someone with a server who's hosting the games. Since you're finding nothing but dead links, I'm guessing there aren't any private servers running any old DC games.

If the game's server is still up, you can play it. The only one that I'm sure is up is Quake III, and I could be wrong there. There's a GREAT fan server for Phantasy Star Online, and if you have the right cheat disk it supports the DC version.

And your best option is to hunt down a broadband adapter. There is a way to tunnel the traffic from your ethernet in to your dreamcast through your modem, but it's a pain in the ass. Also, what version of Ubuntu? Gutsy or the Hardy beta?

I'm running Gusty right now. I'd love to test drive the beta but being as this is the main computer that I use (and its absolutely horrible) I don't want to risk messing anything up. Although I'm sure its pretty stable by now.
