Jewelcase switcheroo

If I were to sell a disc game on ebay, I would think that an uncracked case would be a good thing. If the case was cracked, however, and I replaced it with a new jewelcase (transferring over the art and manual, of course), would you, the buyer, feel cheated if the switch were not mentioned in the auction?

In other words, would you, the buyer, prefer to receive the game in the original, damaged case, perhaps adjusting your bid downward, and retain the option to replace a cracked case yourself?

(I would replace a clear cracked jewelcase with a clear new jewelcase, and I don't know how the buyer would come to realize that there's been a switch.)

I know that this is a really picky question, but then, I know game collectors...

<shrug> a jewel case is a jewel case, as long as they look the same (Hinges in the same spot, same coloring, if any)

i do change just the front. If they have a see through spine like ps and dc games/others have i just let it go, since i don't have the parts to change them. but i do once a year or so buy a 100 count cd cases and swap out all my broken stuff.

I change them out all the time, cases are cases, unless they say "Maxwell" in the corner or something. I've never had a complaint, but if a buyer ever does complain, I have no problem sending him the original case.

But i agree with everyone else so far. The odds are that a person would never know. i know that I wouldn't mind if someone switched the original cracked case with a new one since I'd only do it myself once it was delivered.

I would not mind either, a case is a case.

However Neo-Geo CD games, (all the new ones I have purchased) have special cases, which have the Neo-Geo logo etched in the upper right corner, that's something to consider.

DC and PSX-cases are "genuine", I don´t know a place where to get them.
PS2 is ok, you can use a "normal" DVD-case, but you don´t have the memory-card-holder then.
I would mention that in the auction taht the original case is broken and that you would replace it if the high-bidder says ok.

While I can't speak for Sonnenhexer...

I do know that some of the Japanese DC games use thicker cases. It all depends on the size of the manual. Some of the games has huge manuals, and needed to have slightly thicker jewel cases. If you tried to fit the manual (or the backing) in a smaller one, you would damage it.

I'm guessing he means because that have that clear cd holder in the center. You can find them in supply stores or catalogs, you just might have to dig a little deeper for them, but they are there.

The only way I can forsee the jewel case swap messing up is if you take a slighty larger than normal size case (like Evangelion: 2nd Impression for Saturn) It's milimeters bigger, but won't swap properly with a normal size case.
