View Full Version : PSP Remote Play Speed ... improved?!

I'm not sure exactly when this happened, must have been either in the latest firmware 3.95 ... or in a one recently before that, but I noticed that when using the PSP to remote play a PS3 (and the compatible software on-board) that RESPONSE SPEED can now be set to +4.

I'm VERY pleased to report that when response speed is set to +4 and image quality is set to -2 (current lowest) the delay is SO diminished that you can pop in and play a PS1 game like Street Fighter Alpha 3 with a tolerable amount of delay!

Yes, there is still a VERY. MINOR. delay on some software, but from as much as I tested, the PSOne software resident on my PS3 HDD (Tekken 2 and Hot Shots Golf 2) played with ZERO delay, and the PS Discs that I tested (Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Capcom Vs SNK Pro) were MUCH MUCH more playable than they were a few months (and firmwares) back when the maximum response setting was +2.

I'm pretty shocked, but, again, very pleasantly surprised!

Hopefully Sony continues to tweak this, as they do with all things connectivity-wise!

That's nice to hear. I only tested remote play one time. Thought it was kind of nifty, but didn't use it again after that. I do have some PSN store purchased PSOne games on the PS3, so I'll have to give it a go again. I absolutely love the PS3/PSP combo and how Sony is keeping them together in such a way.

I can't get remote play working at a tolerable speed. I don't know what is wrong. I can barely navigate the XMB without having to press a button a few times, or hold it for a second to do anything. I tried to send a message to a friend but couldn't even type a three letter word.

I assume this isn't how it should normally be, but I don't know what the issue is. I have the settings set to +4/-2. My PS3 and PSP are both operating on the same wireless router, each within 50 feet of it, with only one wall or floor interrupting line of sight from the router to the systems. As far as I can tell, everything should work perfectly.
