I'm getting a dead in the water, this won't run, windows has an error death message anytime I try to run PCAEwin on either of my laptops (both Dells, Inspirons 2650 and 4150 respectively). I'm running WindowsXP and on my previous pc (desktop with windowsxp) it ran just fine. Now it just doesn't. I don't mean it runs badly or slowly, I mean it just won't run. At all. Ever.

If anyone has had this problem and knows how to correct it I'd appreciate a heads up. If you've never had this problem but know a hella lot of WinXP information, maybe you could suggest what part of my config needs to change.

my system specs:

winxp
dell inspiron 4150
celeron 1.8 Ghz
radeon 7500
256 MB ram
no clue what the sound component is, other than SB compatible.

PCAE appears to be the only VCS emu that will emulate the paddles with an analogue joystick, which is why I'd really like to use it. (I'm doing the other games, the joystick ones, on the Dreamcast. it rocks.) Any information on getting Z26 or CyberStella to use analogue joysticks for paddle emulation would help, too.

I'll have to look into some other 2600 emulators for you and see which will actually support paddle control via the joystick. I was successful in using PCAEwin a long time ago, but it just refuses to work on my system now...actually I havent been able to run it without a crash for some time. Anyone else know of an emulator for the PC that can do this?
