Are the RF switch or power supply for the NES compatible with a Famicom? And I'm pretty sure the controller connectors are different, right?

Power supply is not compatible.

However if you get an A/V famicom, NES controllers and Super NES/n64/gamecube composite cables work.

So the RF switch for an NES isn't compatible with a Famicom?

How about a Super NES "multi out" cable and a Super Famicom?

Yes, you can use a NES RF cable with a Famicom...works on channel 96/97, IIRC.

Pictures of the back of the unit here (http://www.vidgame.net/NINTENDO/FAMICOM.htm). As you can see, standard RF only but your NES RF switch will work fine, pay attention to the channel differences as has been noted. Power supply is different, details are on that page. As you can see, the control pads are hardwired with an expansion connector for other devices (Famicom light gun, Hyper Olympic pads, turbo controllers, etc.).

As has been said you may want to go for either an AV Famicom or a Twin Famicom (Famicom / Disk System combo) as they both have standard RCA out.

Is there any common American power supply that will power the original Famicom?
