Some of the best music we continue to hum all come from the earlier days of gaming. It's amazing how great the music was given the restrictions of many consoles, and in some ways those very restrictions helped create these memorable tunes.

This thread is for posting the best of best.

When it came to the NES, Capcom had the upper hand, hands down. If anyone feels otherwise, I'd love to hear your defense. More recently, Uematsu has had his moments, but game music as I grew up knowing it is a thing of the past. Unless it's an ending theme, it seems more fitting to use sequenced music, but modern storage allows for recorded audio throughout.

There's lots of great music in obscure (and even bad) games.
