View Full Version : XboX 360 Custom Faceplate

We recently bought a second 360 for the bedroom. Mine was sporting an Eternal Sonata plate, so when we moved it into the bedroom the 360 in the livingroom was left looking sad, white, and naked. So my husband asked me to paint him a Cthulhu faceplate... and I did. I thought it came out pretty decent so here it is. Thumbnail; click to enlarge.

I worked on it in short bursts through a few sittings, it really didn't take long to make. The original sketch was drawn directly onto the faceplate in pencil. I didn't prime it at all because I wanted the original white xbox color to show up behind the drawing. Painting was done using acrylics and finally varnished in a matte finish. Any other questions? It's Cthulhu. A mythical eldar god that appears prominantly in the works of H.P Lovecraft (http://www.hplovecraft.com/). My friends an I play an RPG (http://www.chaosium.com/index.php) based on his fiction. The art style I used on the faceplate mimmicks that of John Kovalic, known for his Dork Tower comics (http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/dorktower/). He also occasionally does Cthulhu spoofs such as "My Little Cthulhu" (http://paizo.com/store/toys/figures/myLittleCthulhu).

I'd like to get one that has a crowd of people sweating nervously and looking at the power light ring in a mixture of terror and anticipation, as if they know the Red Ring is inevitable.

I like it.
I heard that if it has an RROD and you stare into the faceplate for 13 seconds on midnight of Halloween that the entirety of humen knowledge will scream into your brain and one enormous instant of revelation in which you cry out in extasy and utter despair before you claw at your own brain to end the excruciating, blissfull experience and bring upon thee a darkness of the end of all things. Just something I heard.
