I Googled these N64 questions, but in the end came up with only partial lists. I was wondering if anyone had a complete list of;

1) What games utilize the 4MB Ram Expansion?
2) What games have a battery back up in the cart?

64DD.net has 58 Expansion Pak games listed. (http://s10013.chiyo.enro.at/modules/games/index.php?system=n64&type=released&show=peripherals&value=expansion&sort=&order=) How many of these games actually require the peripheral is another question. I'm sure Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark and Zelda: MM actually required the Pak to play.

Thanks a lot! I have been wondering this for a while. I had heard some games (XG2, Forsaken and Jet Force Gemeni) used the expansion and I could not see any difference when I played them, nor did I find anything buried in the options menu. According to this list however, they are in fact NOT supported... At least now I know it's not my Ram expansion messing up.

So again, Thank you.

My other question still remains though; Is there a complete list of what N64 games had a battery backup in the cart.

In the same site...

There's lists with every kind of save feature...

That's correct. Extreme-G 2, Forsaken, and Jet Force Gemini do not use the Expansion Pak.

Some modes in Perfect Dark are playable without the Expansion Pak, but it is needed to play the full game.

Jet Force Gemini's box states it supports the 4MB expansion pack, when it actually doesn't. That's where the confusion with that game comes from.

When I bought Jet Force Gemini, the box didn't list Expansion Pak support. The picture of the box on Wikipedia doesn't list Expansion Pak support, either.

Were there two versions of the box?

EDIT: I looked closely at the picture of the box on Wikipedia and noticed the Expansion Pak support was covered by a sticker that just listed Rumble Pak support:

Stunt Racer 64 supports the ram pak as well for a "high resolution"/widescreen mode, but the widescreen effect is simply achieved by cropping the top and bottom of the frame. Makes it a hell of a lot harder to play, though it does look decently nice. Didn't see it listed on the 64dd site.

My favorite racing game on the platform :(

Yes, only those that bought it at launch had the box stating it without the sticker.

Here is boxart showing the release box.

Was covered in the media at the time at sites such as IGN, and was quickly fixed with a sticker, then fixed completely later on.

Thanks!!! It was late and I guess I overlooked it last night, but I see it now.

By the way Rogue, it's nice to see a friendly Saturnleague member here on DP and thanks to everyone else who helped clear the confusion over Jet Force Gemeni.

hehe

I'm new around here. =)

BTW, you can't really trust in any lists in the webz. XD
But 64DD.net is a very good site, always improving. ^^

I'm pretty sure Ocarina of Time and Smash Bros use battery saves. Those are the only two I know of though.

Some used battery and some used EPROM right?

And others used a controller pack.
