Was this just a Kiosk cart for Donkey Kong Country 2? That's my guess, I just want to know what I have. Is it worth anything more than a regular copy? It does have some damage on the top edge of the label. Label image is the same as what's on the retail box and cart. For part number it is M/SNS-ADNE-USA, where the retail doesn't have the 'M/'

I would say no, as it isn't a label variant like most other snes display demos.

Hmmm, then what is it? :?
A self-proclaimed "Super NES Expert" ought to be able to ID it for me, right? :moon::D
Would it have been a preview/review copy sent to a magazine or something? Anyone familiar with the 'M/' that appears at the front of the model #?

could you take a picture of the code and front of the label?

The only difference between this and the standard release is that there is a "not for resale" sticker/stamp put on the back. There is nothing special about this other than that. Most other not for resale carts had a special front label which is different than the standard release (and have a DIS- prefix on the serial code). The "M/" on the serial code is not uncommon, and just indicates the cart was made in Mexico rather than Japan. If you took the "not for resale" sticker off, it would be the same as any other DKC 2 cart.

Thank you. That was helpful and just what I needed to know. It does indeed say Made in Mexico on it.
Were these stickers commonly used for some particular purpose?
Here's a pic of the label w/ 'M/' serial for those that haven't seen it:

It actually is indeed worth a tad more than the regular DKC 2 for snes. It is the ONLY Demo version of DKC2, just because at last minute nintendo decided to demo itand made up this cart. It is the same full game though. Actually every SNES Demo is the full game. Both DKC and DKC3, Nintendo took the time to print label variants with 'Not For Resale' on the front. It is worth less monetarily than normal demos that have 'Not For Resale' printed on the label, but actually is rarer to find this cart then some other snes carts that have'not for resale' printed on it.
This kind of marketing was also seen with some other last minute demos like Mario Party 1 for N64.
Hope I helped a little,
Mike

I'm not sure where these stickers come from whether they were put on from the factory or not OR given to stores to put on. This IS a demo, could have been in a kiosk at a store or could have been distributed to a magazine for review. ANY game could have this kind of sticker on it. Value is very subjective. It's not common viewed as collectible by hardcore collector because it could be put on any game. It really depend on who you get a hold of but generally the price goes between the normal cart and the general value of true demo carts (20-40 depending on the game excluding the sports games). I have seen some people put BINs of 100 bucks for Metroid that went on for weeks and not sure that it ever sold.

I have the same one, only mine has a white paper "Not for Resale" sticker on top. On the sticker it has a space for the store name and store number. There is also a barcode. 0000033901 is the UPC.

I think mine had that also, but it was removed at some point, damaging the label in the process. arrgh.

I've seen those versions as well. Those are pretty interesting because occassionally you can tell exactly the origin of the cart. Of course, some times you have to know the store number which is more of an internal thing. Even still, I work for Kroger and couldn't tell you the store number right down the street. It's available, but I only remember my store number.

This is the top of the cart. Just so you can see it. It was done on my phone, so it sucks...
