View Full Version : What do you think of the new Playstation store?

Although overall I'm pleased that it was changed, I'm still disappointed.

The good:interface is *much* easier to navigate, especially with the PS3 remote.

The bad: although they made the interface more accessible, the appearance of it is almost exactly the same. Hard on the eyes and difficult to read.

The ugly: no new content. NO NEW CONTENT. Correct me if I'm missing something. No new games. No new demos. I don't remember seeing those GT5 videos before so maybe they're new (whoopee). Hasn't the excuse for not posting new content for the past month been that the new store is coming?

And would it have killed them to give us a launch day freebie? :-(

Actually, I don't think the Super Stardust HD expansion was posted before the store update..

We get the SSHD add-on and a free Lair update. Also included are the GT5P videos. But you have to remember that today is Tuesday, and we don't usually get anything at all on Tuesdays, so anything is more than what we get :) Thursday will probably be big.

I'm downloading the update now. From what I've seen in videos, it looks awesome. Can't wait, even though I'm not going to buy anything for a while :)

US will get GT5 Prologue Thursday, EU already has it.
EU will see the Metal Gear Online Beta publicly available, no keys needed, everybody is invited. all that, next Thursday

Any major new content comes Thursdays.

It's always Thursdays.

In any case, I like the new interface fine ... and even thought it's no longer a "web based" store ... it appears that the "icons" and "images" are still Sony-Server-Based ... and like the 360 sometimes can take a minute or two to download/update. Hopefully they increase the speed of that in the future.

All in all it looks good to me ... but I never really had an issue with the OLD version!

I'll be honest, I haven't even had the time yet to log in and see the new version. The old version was perfectly fine with me, but I am always one for evolution :)

I am extremely excited hearing about the SSHD add-on. It is mine the second I log in tomorrow. Stardust has consumed me like no other shooter has since Tempest 2K. I am completely addicted.

Is Home going to take the place of the PS Store when (if?) it comes out?

I don't think it will replace the store, but there will likely be game demos/modes exclusive to the Home universe "lobbies".

I hear that there will be a 2D Contra-esque game of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune in the Uncharted Home Lobby.

To be honest, I'm rarely ever interested in the mostly lame offerings in the PSN store, but I do like the fact that circle goes back now instead of asking if you want to leave the store. Good move there.

Agreed on the circle thing much more fluid navigation.

Yea it is the little things isn't it. Changing the Circle action is nice. And has anyone played LAIR with the new patch yet?

It's alright, the only people I feel bad for, are Rock Band PS3 owners. They are so behind on DLC.

My only complaint is how long the thumbnails take to load sometimes and the download list took a bit to load too, other than that the store is looking very nice. Hopefully this means more frequent updates (they seriously can't do two a week?) and a then everyone will be happy.

Edit: I know what would have been a good feature, resume download would be nice when I'm suddenly dropped/signed out and I'm nearing the end of the download.

I downloaded it but haven't looked through it yet. Either way, unless I get faulty hardware or software, I'm never really one to complain about videogames in general. If I like a game, I like it, if not, I say I'm not interested. I coulda stayed with the old PS store for as long as the PS3 lasts and woulda been ok with it.
