Not gonna try to take the piss outta this one, that'd feel wrong.
Not bidding on it either, though.

Spoken like a true eBay user!
A "true ebay user" would complain that the $1 shipping cost includes supplies like the envelope and blank paper, and not just the actual postage.
I'm about as cynical as you can get about ebay, but when I see the near-constant stream of auctions like this, I still want to believe it's legit and not just someone trying to make an easy buck. Too bad many are not.

That's a good idea and easy to stay under the radar with, since many people wouldn't think twice about $1 plus $1 shipping if they think it is going to a good cause especially those with a few extra bucks in their paypal account. Sounds like an easy way to get some cash...throw together some cute photos of a kid to put in the auction, scribble on a few sheets of paper, write a sad story, sell them for a dollar each.

All I can think of is "she's going to lose money after the PayPal, eBay and postage fees."

No necessarily...she can ship for 42 cents and pick the envelopes up for about 5 cents including a slip of paper.

At first I found it a bit odd that they're a power seller.
One of the requirements for a powerseller is a minimum of $1,000 in sales or 100 items per month.
Most of their feedbacks are for the artwork...so that means that if the kid was doing the drawings then it would be 100 a month. That comes to around 3 or 4 a day so I suppose it's not quite as bad as I was thinking.
Still though, I've been selling for what seems like forever and havn't come close to becoming a power seller.

I can't tell if it's a scam or not but if it is she doesn't seem likely to get caught anytime soon.
