I've been playing Out of this World (genesis version) on my nomad and enjoying it.
I know that this was also released on the Sega CD as part of the Heart of the Alien game. Does anyone know how the Sega CD version compares to the Genesis version? I imagine the graphics are about the same, but what about the music? What other changes were there?
Thanks in advance to anyone that answers. :)
edit: a youtube search shows much improved music and sounds (although the sound is out of sync for the video). The graphics look improved too. [link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQCLI2qnaAk&NR=1)]

I'll compare both this weekend and give any other impressions "if there are any to give" since I have both versions.
Great game btw, wish this genre had caught on more than it has over the years. Way ahead of its time.

Great - thanks.
I found another video that's about 10 min long.

The sounds sound pretty tinny in this video - do you know if this is in the actual game or if its just this guy's video?
The gameplay seems a little faster/smoother than the genesis version. :)

The graphics are pretty much the same. If they're improved, I can't see it. Music is definitely better though. Aside from that, I don't remember any other changes.
BTW, has anyone here ever beaten Heart Of The Alien? I love it but it has to be one of the hardest games I've ever played.

I thought they only made the sequel for the SegaCD. Didn't know the original was on there, too.
The 3DO version is my favorite. Check out the art and music:

Yep. Out of this World and Heart of the Alien on one disc.
I would recommend the Sega CD version over the Genesis. You get both games and improved audio.

I found a copy of Heart of the Alien so I can't wait to try it out (it was sealed and I ripped that sucker open!)
Maybe the Sega CD graphics only look better to me because I've been playing the genesis version on my nomad, so everything looks like shit anyway :)

I've got to say that I think the 3DO version is probably one of the better versions that I've seen. Sega Cd is probably pretty close with maybe longer load times and less colors on the palette.

The informative wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Another_World_(video_game)) suggests the author's new definitive edition (http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/).

Great game which was WAYYY to hard for me when I first tried it. I might make it a few screens these days.

THis is a game that begs to be played along with a guide in order to be fun. Otherwise its just too frustrating

What, Heart of Alien or Out of This World?
I never played HoA, but OotW I beat in a day with no guides when it came out back in the day. It wasn't that hard, really. I mean, they start you pretty close to where you died each time.

I just couldn't predict what they wanted you to do next. Too used to side scrolling adventures where you just go right, right, right and then right at that time in my life.
