Does this sound too promotional, or unusual, or what?

I figured not everyone wants to donate money towards our show, so I thought "maybe these people have old games or movies they don't want. They should donate em to the show"

Let's see if anyone bites. Suggestions welcome.

Donate your used and unwanted genesis games to me, coz I like to play 'em. Also, our Ferret enjoys climbing over them as they domino under his feet. Don't you want our ferret to be happy?

You'll probably be able to build a new backdrop for your set out of all those Madden `95 cart cases.

Yeah, this kind of request goes over REAL well:

Give me free stuff (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40927&highlight=send+free+stuff)

I'd send you my copy of Shaq-Fu, but I love it too much to let it go.

Proof of purchase from a box of Pop Tarts that'll help you towards (1/4 of the requirement) an Xbox 360 themed tote bag, who wants it?

I don't see too much issue with this request since you do have a review show that does have some history to it. If I have some extra stuff laying around after I have my pre-move yard sale in mid-May I'd be fine sending some games your way as long as any postage getting it to you would be covered.

I admit it, I was a dick in my earlier reply. I apologize.

I wish I had some games to send you, but most of my stuff is pretty common. Sorry.

You let me down with that link.

I expected you were going to link the thread where that loser asked for free copies of the two most recent DP Guides.

You weren't offering a game or a movie, so you're fine. ;p

Hmmm, well, I kinda expected a bit of a half positive, half negative response. Definitely wasn't trying to come here and beg for free stuff. None of us at VMTV have our hands out saying "help a brutha out today sir, or madam".

Since I started the whole Paypal donation thing on our site, I figured there's probably going to be a lot of people who hate just giving money without something in return. Unfortunately, we are not financially well off to send free SWAG in return. We're not affiliated with any company where they send us free goodies. Even if that were the case, not many people will want a SEGA sticker in return for the game or movie they sent. Some people will want cash.

I will admit, covering for postage doesn't seem like a bad idea. In all honesty, I doubt ANYONE will send a game system our way. Figure a game is like a pound or so, right? That's what? Less than $3?...well, depending on where you live, I guess. I dunno, I'll think about the whole postage deal.

This was mainly for those who want to support the show, and somehow contribute and be a part of what appears to be a small community.

Before I end this, I just have one question, and mind you, I have nothing against the Angry VG Nerd. I'm a big fan of his, and own his DVD.

When people donate games to him to review, do those people get compensated somehow? I don't know how that's handled on James' end.

HE gives a thank you in the credits of the episode where he used the stufff that people sent him.

Well Dasterly has donated to him, so you want to ask him for the definite answer. However from what I hear he sends you back a personalized greeting card drawn by Mike (the artist) with all the game characters in Season 1 and as a special thank you.

Kitsune here isn't lightning, because he snipes his victim twice! :O

Oh man, that was a horrible pun. How about "way to blame the victim, again" :D

What're you asking for now, Saturn longbox games? Well heck...maybe I oughta dump some on you then ;)

Loose cartridge games are generally considerably less than a pound, same for small box games. Neo Geo games should be a few pounds.

Eh, just a guess. Never had to worry about something that light before. Like the video says I'm not asking people to part with their PS3, or whatever.

We did get a donation earlier today. Someone is sending a few VHS tapes over.

And of course, those who contribute get credit in the show, or will be mentioned during the review of whatever they send.

Hmm, a greeting card, eh? Never thought about something as simple as that. :)

You could always request to borrow things for coverage and ship it back? Although a lot more work is involved than simply having the item handed to you (what with shipping it back), I think you'll get a lot more people willing to help you out when it comes to covering rare stuff (especially if you are trustworthy). Otherwise, yeah, this sort of public request threatens to cross the tacky line.

Maybe ask for locals to contact you through e-mail or some sort of message system with what game they are willing to let you borrow for review. Then have them on the show while the review is being given and just ask them a simple question, like what aspect they like about the game best. People always want to be on TV.

I'm the owner of retro-console.com (modification services)..When I first was putting the site together, the whole Donation feature idea crossed by my head, but as quickly as it came,I quicky decided to put it aside....

Many people has contacted me about wanting upgrades that we dont offer at the site just yet....I tell them that we are currently in the process of collecting funds (working hard)in order for us to adquire other systems that we don't have ,to find more video game systems custom affordable modifications solutions for us and our customers....

Some DP members have suggested and been keen enough of, by donating some of their espare systems, for us to expand and to keep the classic gaming alive!....We thank you all for that and we will be bringing more upgrading features in the near future....

Also, soon we will be doing a free customized Video game system give away for someone that truly deserves it...

I don't know man, I tend to pay for my hobbies out of my own pocket. I don't see why you can't either.

I do, actually. I have a job, but money is beside the point. Sometimes, there are people out there who have games, or movies that are just so rare and unpopular that they are hard to obtain through amazon or Ebay. I had enough trouble finding the old Gamepro VHS tape on the internet. Finally found it at Amazon for a reasonable price.

So I'm not really hoping that if I jingle my cup, someone will drop a penny in it. But if they have something along the lines of what I just said, that they'd help out a bit.

For instance, finding Superboy season 2, 3, or 4 on VHS or DVD. Not official yet, they only have season 1 right now. But you know someone out there has it, and probably doesn't want it. Eh

If I had old crap and you'd cover shipping I would send stuff.

Problem is, the only old crap I currently have is really common Famicom games.
