View Full Version : What is Your Immediate (this very moment) Collection Goal?

Whether it be "just to start getting into collecting N64" or "hunting down the rare PSX games" or "only need 25 titles to finish ColecoVision".... what are your immediate collecting goals?

I am 9 games away from a complete Sega CD collection, and the toughest one at this point I think is "Crime Patrol". It's so close I can taste it. Yum!

I thought my 3DO collection was complete but as I was rounding them up for a really cool picture to show everyone I realized that I'm missing a few of the Putt Putt games and the "mathemagic" sort-of game. GAH!

I'll share the complete collection pics as soon as they're really complete.

My current goal is to get all my favourite Dreamcast games (and trust me - there's a lot of 'em!)

PilotWings for SNES is another cart I've been trying to track down.

Some of the rarer Saturn games are always on the agenda too (e.g. Panzer Dragoon series)

That's about it for now...

My current collection goal is to pick up anything I can find cheap (10 and under) for the next-gen systems (Dreamcast on up). Also, I want to add more good games to my PlayStation collection.

I've got a few goals left. :-D
I'd like to get an Atari Video Music. I really, really would. I'm fully aware of how intrinsically goofy they are, and I still want one.
I need to get some games for my Atari 400 and TI 99/4A. And get some more games for the NES, though I'm being choosy there and just getting stuff that interests me; very few systems do I go on an all-out get-every-title crusade.
I'm still casually picking up 2600 stuff whenever possible. You'd be amazed at some of the gaps in my commons for that machine - I just pick up what I can when I can. :)
As if I have room for one more marquee, I'd still like to hunt down the headers for Star Wars and Joust.
Back-burner goals: Astrocade, Channel F, Arcadia 2001 and whatever games I can scrounge for them. Not very high-priority though.
Before I die, I want one perfectly-working coin-op. Upright, cocktail, doesn't matter. Pac-Man or Galaga or Tron would be sweet.

I did say I have a few goals, didn't I? :D

Basically, right now, just filling out my collection. It's small and there are even many consoles I'm missing. I seem to have a disproportionate amount of rare and sought after stuff. I guess I've gone after quality rather than quantity in the past and it's time to reverse that...

My immediate goal is to finish off my Intellivision collection. But, I have about 15 titles remaining, and I am starting to wonder if I will ever do it. I have limits, and I won't pay more than $30 for a classic cart.

Otherwise, I want to re-claim my childhood Atari 2600 collection. I am only short a couple of carts, Pengo, A Xonox double ender, etc. This is my collection that I sold off when I was a kid, and now I have begun to try and find all my old carts.

I still need 3 games for my European 32X collection and 50 games for my European Saturn Collection.
But with the pace I'm going now, it might be another year before I've got all those.

My most immediate collection goal isn't really my collection, but rather how I wish to display it. I've got a current home remodeling project going on, but when I'm done that, I'm going to create the ultimate game station. It's going to be an arcade cabinet with a TV for the monitor, and have all my consoles hooked up to it, with the joystick controlling the simpler consoles(controller option still available for whenever I want to get the "real feel"). I'm also going to have my MAME PC connect to the monitor, so I can MAME out as need be. All this and possibly a supergun. I know it's a lot for one machine, but with some planning I'm pretty sure I can pull it off. I'm also considering building some game racks right into the side of the cabinet, space permitting.

Soon my precious. soon.

Top 5 goals I have right now

1. Finishing my U.S. Virtual Boy collection (5 left)
2. Finishing my Game.com collection (not sure how many left...it's in single digits though)
3. Atari 2600 - Atari Video Cube, that will complete my childhood collection :)
4. Build my own MAME Machine
5. Get my Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket, and Colecovision collections over 10 games

GAME GOALS:

I'm not really close enough to any complete libraries to have completion of any as a goal. So I guess the goal for games is just to grab whatever I don't have that's cheap.

CONSOLE GOALS REALISTIC:

TI-99
Sega Nomad

CONSOLE GOALS FARFETCHED:

VECTREX
NEO-GEO AES

GOALS FOR THE DISTANT FUTURE:

an Arcade cabinet- any but preferably Centipede or Galaga
a Game Room- I REALLY want to display my collection in a way that's more interesting that Avon boxes stacked on a pool table. I can see it in my head and it WILL be cool as hell.

I'm still doing the Capcom thing. I have most of the common games. But getting some of the rarer ones is starting to get hard. I;m trying to avoid Ebay as much as possable so i guess its off to the flea markets for me on the weekends.

I'm all about the PCBs now. I've got a list of games I'm wanting, but I think top on that list is Batsugun, Battle Garegga, the Metal Slug series (Neo MVS carts) and a Capcom CPSII board so I can get started with that collection.

Right now maybe somewhere between getting good Dreamcast games, Final Fantasy titles and Tengen carts. For FF titles I just need the non-GH of FF7, tactices and Origins..and a job and money.

Believe it or not, my current goal is to get rid of stuff!

I have lots of stuff I don't want and I need to clear it all out to make room for stuff I do want. Then I will get back to focussing on real collecting goals.

As of right now I am looking for complete Genesis and Master System games (though nearly any complete classic game I am willing to buy if the price is right). I would like to have around 3,000 total games by years end and I am rather quickly approaching that. Need to sell a bunch of stuff off soon though.

Otherwise I am looking at filling in the remainder of my US Neo Geo home cart collection.

And as always, reorganizing everything I have to make it look presentable. I'll be done eventually I hope!

Waitin' for the paychecks to catch up with the expenses. Looking for Batsugun (JP SS), Zanac X Zanac (JP PSX), Sin and Punishment (JP N64), Strikers 1945 (JP SS), and 3-in1 (JP PSX). Sniffin' around for a Trance Vibrator, so to speak. On the U.S. front, have my eye on Return Fire (PSX), Night Warriors (SS), Nectaris: Military Madness (PSX), Front Mission 3 (PSX), Ghost in the Shell (PSX), and Star Control (Gen)

General goal: Laying in games that I might fancy playing one of these days.
Chances of obtaining the full catalog for any given system: Zero

Is there any compelling reason why I should chase down Namco Museum Vol. 5? (Other than "I've got the first four")

I would like to get all the Sega Genesis games and the 32X games.
The problem is that I have about have of the Genesis games and only 14 32X games. Still a long way to go. But not bad for only collecting for 2 years or so.

1) play and review games I already have
2) get my 5200 sticks fixed!
3) get some 2600 Homebrews
4) Continue to work on my Saturn Collection, but slowly (57 games so far)
5) Get "closer" to a complete (game and manual) NTSC Atari 2600 collection as well as the exclusive First party PAL titles. (around 92 carts wanted, many more manuals)
6) figure out what late PSOne releases aren't CRAP and pick them up.

Cheers,

Hey Ben, you'll probably want to be avoiding Sea Monkeys then :p

Lemme see..
Next purchase will be a Gamecube of my VERY OWN, so I can love it and hold it and squeeze it.. and finish Zelda, and play more PSO again :)

And then the purchase after that isn't gonna be for me, but for Willie for his birthday ;)

Current short-term goal: I'm just missing 1 Master System Card game (Bank Panic)

Longer term goal: I've just passed 50% of all Euro Master System games (143/282)

Looooooooooooooong term goal: I've got about 25% of the 531 Euro Megadrive games I'm aware of.

A General increase in numbers... I have around 300 NES games, 20 SMS, 20 TG-16, 70 SNES, 11 3d0, 14 Saturn, and 100 genesis games. ALL of which I'm missing TONS of commons, but I can never seem to pick up a lot of them

My Classic systems (atari 2600,5200,7800,coleco,intv, O2, Channel F) are all almost COMPLETE, so I'm trying to not worry about those as much right now :)

Only 2 goals for me:

1. Complete my NES collection. Need about 90 more games and Im finished. Got most the hard-to-find titles already too (Panesians, Aladdin's, Active Enterprises). That Stadium Events is going to be a tough one to get. I'm not counting the Sachen carts though.

2. Finish my Virtual Boy collection. Only need Jack Bros. (US) and Virtual Bowling and I'll have a complete collection of all Jap and US titles. Yeah, I know thats only 33 games, but some of those Japanese titles are tough to get!

Videopac: #48,#57,#58 and #60
These last 5 Mattel hh's: Soccer 2,Space Battle,Missile Alert, Invisible Alien Neutralizer,Backgammon

Is there any compelling reason why I should chase down Namco Museum Vol. 5? (Other than "I've got the first four")
YES. The Legend of Valkyrie. Worth the price of the disc alone. Excellent game with wonderful music. Great fun. The obvious answer to your question would be "because Pac-Mania is on there." Which it is, and it's great. Dragon Spirit is wonderful as well. Metro-cross and Baraduke are obscure and goofy, but interesting. Make no mistake, however, the reason to get it (other than having a "complete" set) is the Legend of Valkyrie. You can play it on MAME, but only in Japanese (under the name "Valkyrie No Densetsu"). If that's not an issue, great. Plus all of the museum extras make it cool as well.

I said "complete" set because there is a sixth, Japanese-only disc called Namco Museum Encore, which is also wonderful, if you can find it!

@Ianoid--I have an extremely hard time believing that you would need anything! You've GOT everything, bro! I have to say once again that it was a rare and wonderful opportunity last summer that I found something that you actually didn't already have and wanted. Twice! You helped me find some of my most holy grails (most notably Frogger 2 for the 2600--not the most rare game, I know, but immensely personally significant--and Atari Stunt Cycle.). Great example of a win-win situation.

As for my own goals, I've been wanting to acquire the entire 5200 library for years (minus homebrews--although I should really get Koffi--and prototypes, which are already on the multicart) and as of last summer, closed the gap to three. But they're the three hardest to find, so it will probably be three forever. If I had to pick only one of the three (K-Razy Shoot-Out, Meteorites, Bounty Bob Strikes Back), I'd pick BBSB because it would be the most fun to play and is not available on the multicart, and would right a decade-old wrong--I did have the opportunity to buy it new from Best Electronics years ago for $30, which is positively chump change now. Speaking of multicarts, I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that Sean Kelly does indeed rule and is a fine, friendly fellow. (In case there were any doubt.)

I haven't really been collecting any games at all since CGE last year, I guess I've gotten collecting fatigue. Plus grad school and certain types of people give me enough to focus on and worry about. However, I still really want, and have always dearly wanted, a Bally Astrocade. And The Incredible Wizard. That's it. It's all I need.

i picked up a dreamcast not too long ago, and my new goal, which i have a loooong way to go on is to get the complete dreamcast catalogue... by my figures, i have 9% of it right now. not bad for a couple weeks work tho. i don't figure it'll be too bad, because except for a few titles, everything is really cheap. we'll see how long it takes... (i'm guessing 2 years, hah).

I'm on a Neo Geo Craze....for AES and MVS carts..etc.

My current goal is to have every different Neo Geo MVS title..bare cart or Kit..
I think I can finish this goal by the end of this year...while..buying AES carts here and there..until the MVS carts are all bought..then I'll focus more on AES carts..
The prototype games are gonna be the hardest to get..but they show up from time to time..

Two years ago I was on a handheld/tabletop game craze..I have as many as I want now..,,but picking up a few here and there.

My collecting goal for the very near future is to go down the street to the pawn shop and pick up that reciever for the super scope for the snes.

My near future collecting goal is to get Gilligan's Island for the NES. Whenever I bid on it on ebay it shoots up to like 20 bucks for some reason. When I forget to bid, it stays low. But I would rather buy it in town though. (I believe this was my collecting goal the last time we did this. At least I made an attempt :-D )

3.Map and Guide for Might & Magic (Nes) I am a completist freak :o
4.Cardboard sleeve for Vasteel (Turbo Duo)
5.Dragon Warrior 3 Enix send away map
Some possible long term goals

2. Maybe start to collect all the games for the Genesis
3.Atari Jaguar and Aliens vs Preditor( and find out what all the fuss is! LOL )

1) Intellivsion
2) ColecoVision
3) ColecoGemini (or a new Atari 2600 - the current one has horrible static even with the phono-RF adaptor.)
4) Any more pong games or systems I come across that tickle my fancy.

Systems I'm collecting for:
1)Genesis - everything but the sports titles - I don't do sports! LOL
2)NES - as above
3)SNES - only side scroller or old-style Arcade games, like the Marios and such, and other games that interest me
4)Vic 20 - only got 5 so far - but I've got A RARE one! (Star Battle)

My most immediate collection goal is to get a nice boxed complete Atari 2600 system. I just scored a box of 60 complete 2600 games from a poster on the board I run, but I have nothing to play them on right now. So it looks like I'll be spending some time browsing eBay looking for the "right" one.

Long term goals are to finish rebuilding my collection of Genesis and NES games that I used to have, and to get back into collecting and finishing off the DC collection. I've been taking a break these past couple months to recover financially from a buying spree I went on a few months ago. :)

My short term goal is to keep picking up the PSX games that I consider to be rare.

From there I'd like to collect all PSX fighting games, RPG's, and puzzle games. I figure if I can do that I'll be on my way to completion.
