Wow, that's some neat stuff. Your blog post mentioned looking for someone to help you read the EPROMs, have you found someone yet? As they're all unsoldered and loose, it should be really easy.

Before you go and send these off to some random helper you should ask Joe if he wants to release any of these at the CGE shows.

Not to be a wet blanket, but are you sure those are real "prototypes" and not pirated roms?

See, I thought these could be pirated, but then I realized that pirating onto EPROMS back in the early 80's would have cost more than just buying the games legitimately.

What makes you think there's anything there even worth releasing? Why don't we figure out what the hell is on these things before creating an incomprehensible frenzy for no reason.

@ VonGuard: This kind of thing is exactly what I was talking about in the thread on AA.

I found a local dood with an EPROM reader. I think I'll be going with him. Fuck the postal service and Fed Ex.

My point was that this happens every time someone finds prototypes...if the person who finds them doesn't already have dollar signs in their eyes, you can always rely on certain people to put them there. I have no problem buying prototype repros, and I enjoy collecting them, but it's completely ridiculous that these haven't even been dumped yet and you're already talking about a CGE release. As if your intere$t$ in this hobby weren't clear enough.

Contact an admin either here or at AtariAge.com if you need help getting these dumped to a binary file that can be used on an emulator.

It doesn't matter which route you go - we're all on the same team these days. Feel free to cross-post this on atariage.com forums if you'd like similar input.

Nice find... maybe!

If you know ANYTHING about the Atari guys you know there are guys waiting for it to be dumped so they can make carts and put them on ebay. SOMEONE will make carts and sell them. SOMEONE will profit. You think guys like Hozer are more deserving of making some money on this than he is? Why not let Joe have first crack at releasing it by adding something to the CGE show,do it the right way with a nice box and instructions AND let the guy who found it make a few bucks?

Don't talk to me about my interest here. You don't know me and you have no idea what you are talking about. I didn't send him a pm trying to lowball the stuff so I could flip it. I don't do that. I'm more interested in helping him and the CGE show than helping myself to any part of this. I won't profit if he releases it now or takes his time and makes a few bucks. You get your ROM either way so why do you care?

I want what is best for everyone but there are others pressuring him to dump and release it asap. Once its dumped and released that is it. He can't take it back. He can do what he wants to. I can only suggest that he talk to Joe about it first and take some time to think about what he wants to do before he does anything.

Boy am I glad that I don't deal with prototypes. You can't even find a prototype these days without an immediate pile-on from people criticising you for every conceivable action that you might take before you've even looked at the damn thing. And no matter what you do, someone will slag you off for it ...

Too many guys looking for quick free handout not thinking about the big picture. The buzzards making the circle overhead.

Destroy them. It's the only correct thing to do in this situation.

(Didn't that happen some some unreleased game... maybe related to Cheetahmen? Gah, was that a hoax, does anyone know what I'm talking about?)

It was that NES game with the farting ape. Hazzard ape or something.

Congrats on the find! I'm an east bay collector also (out of Concord). Tread carefully on the forums, as people get their g-strings easily twisted when it comes to prototypes.

Butter Farce Ape, i believe...

Nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

Am i missing something here? This thread got all wonky faster then most prototype threads do

So, local boys: Anyone got a Colecovision for me to test these on? I found one at the ACCRC (computer recycling center) but it was dead... only took 2 hours of fucking aorund and chasing through piles of cables for all the thigns we needed before we figured out that the damn console was dead.

Also: If anyone wants to meet up for Laney this weekend, that might be fun.

Post a new thread in the classic game section. Not everyone comes to this section.

"Need to borrow Colecovision in Oakland area" then tell em why. That should get you a hit.

Roms dumped. Everything is available to download on my blog.

http://blog.gism.net/2008/04/26/roms-dumped-and-confirmed/

Go read and help me make the Coleco roms work. They need to be combined into single files, since most of them were drawn across three or four chips.

Nice :)

So all the ROMs dumped and uploaded so far are the Coleco ones, correct?

VonGuard
04-26-2008, 09:09 PM
All the roms uploaded are Coleco, EXCEPT, for the 11 revisions of Cabbage Patch Kids for Atari. Dragon 80 is the biggest gem here. No one knows what it is, but it's a great game!!!!

Doh, I can't read, it was late... just need someone to figure out which one of the Cabbage Patch ROMs is the most recent...? Is one of them 16k and the rest 8k from looking at the ZIP?
