I never really come across them all that often and I'm beginning to wonder if these are becoming harder to get. Yes, no, maybe?

it can't be to rare.. I run across them all the time at pawns.. usually 9.99-19.99, but they sell on Ebay like they were rare. Last loose one I sold went for $60.00. I've got a boxed one That I'll sale for X-mas next year, bet it gets close to $120.
I'd rather have a regular snes as it has at least S-Video out. the Snes "2" or Jr. can only do A/V.

Can't see the desire behind them. Possibly riding on the popularity/mythos of the NES toploader? Or is it just the smaller foot print?

They go for a little more than normal super nintendo, butI recently bought one on eBay with all hookups and controller(didn't work) for $20.00. It was in excellent condition too.

Talking of NES Top Loader...y'all will never believe this...I bought one about 6 months ago, because of the famous 72-pin connector. Spent too much, then found out about refurbished toasters. Then read about the inferior video of the Top Loader. Got a refurbished toaster. Noticed the difference immediately, even though it's through RF.
I had also bought a dogbone from Nintendo. Sold the Top Loader and new dogbone on Ebay in 2 HOURS. I broke even, that's fine with me. There's something about collecting that remains elusive to me. Why want something that's inferior?

The SNES 2 is possibly the least durable system ever made. Just for the record lol.

are you sure it can't do S-video? I thought it uses the same connector as the Gamecube.

SNES 2 is fairly comon around here. I see a few of them sitting on shelves at various Funcolands. I have one only because it's smaller and fits better in my crammed shelf.
Yes SNES uses the same connector as GC but Nintendo was screwy about their own connector standard:
SNES 1 has composite, S-Video, and RGB (not compatible with compoment video)
SNES 2 has composite only
N64 has composite and S-Video
GC has composite and possibly S-Video. The RGB (actually compoment) are from digital out only.
