Link (http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/prnewswire/200804221628PR_NEWS_USPR_____CLTU149.htm) to CNN's story, of all places. Let's hope this one actually comes out. :)

edit: Apparently, there's going to be a new Splatterhouse (http://kotaku.com/382837/splatterhouse-returns) as well.

I expect to be very busy shortly... this is the first real news I've had to post on West Mansion all year.

I believe someone mentioned Tecmo Bowl is making a return. All good things happen in three's.

If anything is going to bring me out of my depression, Splatterhouse IV will be it.

Huh, I'm pathetic sometimes. LOL

Hmm..it says Wii on the page header. Do we get to swing 2x4s into ghouls with the wiimote?

1up (http://www.1up.com/do/search?st=Splatterhouse) says PS3/360. Apparently the guys at EGM linked to the Virtual Console version of Splatterhouse for some reason, thus the confusion.

Does no one find it of note that the name of Interplay is being bandied about? As if it might yet rise from the dead!?

It'd be nice if they were planning to put together an extra-fancy 2D platformer-shooter capable of exploiting current technology, but I'm guessing it's just going to be another throwaway 3D adventure game in the end.

I knew Dire would be the first to reply lol I am overly excited about a new Splatterhouse, I'm glad they never forgot! Now if they would only released Splatterhouse 2 and 3 on the Virtual Console, I would be set!

Interplay never died, son... It just stopped developing games for a while. They got a pile of money selling the Fallout IP to Bethesda and have been quietly preparing some of their other beloved IP for a revival...

Lo.... Witness and despair! (http://www.interplay.com/)

TenApel is actually involved on this new Earthworm Jim project, which apparently includes more cartoons(the original EWJ cartoon is still awesome) so here's hoping they don't fuck it up.

Awesome news - that is, as long as they don't mess these up.

I dig both Splatterhouse and Earthworm Jim so I'm pretty pumped about this. I hear what Jorpho is saying about trying to fit it into 3D though. It's unfortunate but I wouldn't be surprised if they do that. As a matter of fact, I expect it. Still, they have TenNapel onboard for EJ so that's great news. Man, this is great. Both of those games are in my top ten "I wish they'd revive it" list.

Well, yeah, there have been ambiguous murmurings about some muhmorpegger for a while now, but given that it's been years already, I have been very doubtful that anything would emerge.

Still, that pretty new homepage graphic is news to me.

Heh, yeah... any news about Splatterhouse has a tendency to bring me out of hiding. LOL

2 and 3 need to come out for the VC. It'd be nice to see Wanpaku Grafitti too.

Also, I may have some additional news about the new Splatterhouse to post soon... someone who claims to be involved with the new game emailed me earlier today.

Oooh, this is pretty awesome. I've been dying for a new Splatterhouse for a long time. And a new EWJ is awesome news as well, but weren't they already working on a new one for PSP? Was it canceled or something? Ah well, as long as the games are good I'll be happy. :)

Actually, we're going to get even more than just a little bit of new news.

I just received an email from Namco Bandai. They love the site, the development team has been checking it out constantly since they began the project - and in the near future, there is going to be some cool new content on WM, the details of which I can't go into yet.

:D :D :D :D :D

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited right now. However, there is something I need to do ASAP, and that's give the site a facelift. Anyone here good with website design that might be able to come up with a fresh new look for West Mansion? I can't promise much in payment other than a signed copy of Memoirs of a Virtual Caveman and my undying thanks, but at least that's something.

This is great news. A new Splatterhouse game if done right can be amazing.

Tecmo's doing a new Football game, which means only one thing.....

Boobies! :D

But seriously, the "non-NFL" or "arcade style" football market is even starting to get a little crowded. But Tecmo's got the nostalgia factor on their side.

As for Splatterhouse.... The name alone, makes it an automatic purchase. Been waiting a little over a decade now for a proper sequel.

hell yes....potential awesomeness.

Interplay has also recently announced that we'll be getting EWJ 1 and 2, Clayfighter, and Boogerman on the VC this year.

Time to give this thread a kick in the ass.

I just finished updating West Mansion with all of the classic Splatterhouse artwork I have received from Namco Bandai. 23 pieces total, all from the arcade and PC Engine era. Sadly, that was all they found in the archives.

However, for those of you interested in giving your input on the new game: I've been told by my contact at Namco Bandai, and I quote, "We're always on the lookout for suggestions from serious fans." As such, I've recommended that they keep an eye on the official West Mansion forum, which is now viewable by the public.

So here's your chance, Splatterhouse fans: if you want Namco Bandai and BottleRocket to see what you would like in the new Splatterhouse game, jump over and register on the West Mansion forum The Third Moon now and start posting!

Great, now I have more reasons to buy the current consoles. Now for a new Battletoads release!

Just finished reading EGM's article in the new Splatterhouse, and I must say it looks like it's coming along really well. The developers seem to have a grasp of what made the series fun, and look to be taking it in the right direction for the current consoles.

Hopefully we'll have some more answers from them soon. Sega-16 has an interview coming up with BottleRocket, and there will be a Q&A on West Mansion before too long.

I really hope this is true, because other companies will begin to revive old classics as well. Vectorman? Streets of Rage? Just to name merely a couple...

And once again, the Wii gets the short end of the stick. The Wii is the most popular system, yet so many good new releases are just coming out for the PS3 and 360. Call me crazy, but this reminds me of baseball and Barry Bonds. Leading the majors in 2007 with a stunning .480 OBP, not one team wanted him in 2008.

Cool, though I'm not sure it will be that good. Obviously I'm not basing this off much, but I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being mediocre at best to anyone not a cult follower of the originals.

Seeing him pull that dude apart was awesome. What's up with the voice acting, though? I'm tired of that shit. Movies have great voiceovers. Why can't games pull that off?

Secret Level is a talanted group of coders. I actually had no hope for the new Golden Axe until I heard they were the ones developing it.

I still play Unreal Tournament on the Dreamcast and can't believe how well they handled the port with the DC's limited ram. It was one of the most impressive ports I have ever played.

Maybe they were talented back then, but Iron Man and now Golden Axe make it seem otherwise.

This a rather unsettling rumor (http://kotaku.com/5148824/rumor-namco-yanks-splatterhouse-from-bottlerocket) from Kotaku. I don't see why Namco would do this, considering the game was supposed to go gold next month. Hopefully this doesn't mean the death of another development team if so.
