I don't know what it was, but I went to eject a PS2 game from the system (Mana Khemia) and it made the sound of it comming out, but no disk came out. I hit the button a couple more times, still the same thing. I then tried it again and a loud knocking sound started comming from it as if the disk was hitting something inside. I shut the power off and restarted it to try again, the disk came out half way and went back in. One more try and I was able to pop the disk out (but I grabbed it before it had a chance to be sucked back in. Anybody else experience this? there were no marks or scratches on the disk by the way.

In an attempt to sell more PS3 software the ps3 is designed to EAT, your old ps1 and ps2 games leaving you to rely on increasingly scarce used games or expensive new ps3 games. What can i say those cell processors are hungry chips.

it sounds like the disc just got out of place while being inside. I have seen the inside of the ps3's drive and its extremely cheap and fragile. If it is working fine now with no problems then i think your ok. just make sure you put the disc in evenly to avoid the disc slipping out of place again.

You mean for 600.00 we couldn't get better quality parts? I always wondered how would one extract a stuck disc from a ps3. The eject cd roms ones come with a pin hole that force ejects..

The support manual says that you should press eject for 10 seconds or longer to force the disc out.
