According to Ebay it's keyword spamming to use the term "like new" in the title of an auction. You might confuse people who are searching for "new" items. I had an auction cancelled for a 1958 model airplane engine that is like new in the box. Sorry for confusing those people who are only looking for new 1958 McCoy model engines. Anyway according to the douche at Ebay who I just talked to any item with "like new" in the title should be reported. So if you're bored search for "like new" and start reporting. Give those jerkoffs at Ebay some more work to do.

That's dumb. What if an item is like new? I'm reminded of half.com's ridiculous quality qualifications. "Like new" is described as being in shrink wrap. Then there's "new" above that. "Acceptable", IIRC, is pretty much what other, reasonable people would call mint or near mint.

That's been in their policy for years. And I've used it for years with no problem. Probally what happened is some idiot playing ebay police turned you in.
The only auction I've ever had pulled was a collapsable sword prop. I got an email from ebay saying that it's against california state laws to sell consealed weapons...this wasn't a real weapon and I'm not in California. Someone else was also selling them and theirs didn't get pulled so I figured they turned me in hoping ebay would play it safe and pull my auction.
Anyways...the point to me saying all this...is that maybe the same thing happened to you. A competitor wanted your bids.
So if you're bored search for "like new" and start reporting. Give those jerkoffs at Ebay some more work to do.
That's probally not such a great idea...I'm sure they'd increase fees even more to cover the extra labor.

I think they're cracking down on this rule lately, as I had a used but like new copy of Beauty & the Beast on DVD listed that got pulled because I had "like new" in the title.
This pisses me off to no end because 1) They just pull the auction, instead of telling you to fix it or fixing it themselves (I'm on a 56k modem, so it takes me a while to list even a single item), and 2) without exaggeration, I'd guess 80% or more of the copies of B&tB on eBay at any given time are bootlegs and/or misleadingly listed imports, often sold by repeat offenders, which they apparently don't give a shit about at all. Fucking useless idiots.
The only other time I've had anything pulled on eBay was they pulled all of my auctions once because I said I accepted cash. This was after I had been accepting cash for years. They pulled a couple dozen or so.

Ahh.. Dial up.. It's like turning on an Amiga! Go make a sandwich and have lunch and then come back to it just finishing :D
On something more related. I have had things pulled too. But they where my legal released copy of prototypes and officially released beta of Syphon Filter.. but we all know that's been around forever. Still the e-mails where less than personal. The employees must be stupid as F***. I gave them reasons and evidence that I am licensed to sell them and they couldn't tell me anything different other than "The company (that I got the OK from) may not want you to blahblah." .. Morons...

I'll do it.
New is new. "Like new" is used.
Dumb is sell an used item as a new one.
