Wii Fit sync issues

Picked this up today along with a good percentage of the population of Europe, however no matter what i do I simply can't get the balance board synced up with the Wii. It'll flash, flash, flash, then give up. Anyone else had that problem/got any solutions?

Have you tried doing the "blank" sync?

You hold the Wii's red button in for 15 seconds at the epilepsy screen, then let go, then try syncing all the controllers again.
