Castle of Illusion Sega Genesis Help

I was looking at my copy of Castle of Illusion for the Sega Genesis, and I noticed the cart said "Mega Drive." The box says Genesis, and the game works without a flaw on my Genesis, but this is still odd. Did all versions of this game say Mega Drive? Or could a Genesis play Mega Drive games?

It's probably a Mega-Drive game. I know the Genesis will play alot of MD games without any modding or use of a game genie.

The Mega Drive referred to on this topic is the PAL version. PAL and US carts are identical. JPN Mega Drive carts are different from PAL and US, will not fit without modifications to the cart slot.
