This has been talked about and around in various threads but I thought it'd be nice to make a list.
What are the late releases for PSOne that are fun to play? Here's what I came up with so far based on searching the forums, memory, and some review sites. LIST UPDATED!
All-Star Slammin' D-Ball ?
Big Stirke Bowling ?
Board Game: Toy Shop
Castlevania Chronicles
Capcom vs. SNK Pro
Cross Road Crisis ?
Dragonball Z 22
FF Origins
Gek-i-oh :D
Inayusha
The Italian Job
Jigsaw Madness
King of the Fighters '99
Metal Slug X
Mobile Light Force
One Piece Mansion :embarrassed:
Pipe Dreams 3D :D
Saiyuki: Journey West
Sheep
Sol Divide
Star Sweep ?
Strikers 1945 ?
Three Stooges (costco and sam's club exclusive) :D
Turnabout :D
V.I.P. ?
Any thoughts?
Cheers,

One piece mansion's a good game, not as exiting as I'd hoped, but still fun.

I'll put my two cents in on two of the late titles:
Big Strike Bowling
Board Game: Top Shop
I'll put in a small plug in for the other late PSX Bowling (by A1 Games I believe) game as well...it's not very good overall, but it has an entertaining mode with a 45-pin rack!!!!! :o

I'll have to concur with that rather cautious recommendation. It's a fun little game, but there are other games in the "twilight" category that come off my shelf more often. Pipe Dreams 3D for one. That damn game is just digital CRACK.

Inayusha?
Inuyasha might be fun for fans of the anime, but it's not that great of a game, really.

OOhhh... Top Shop... how addicting is thee... when I first bought that I spent literally about 6 hours just sitting in front of the tube playing it. Fun little title, but if you play it like I did, it gets old fast. Well worth the 10 bucks, though.

Ben, you missed Sol Divide, which is a fun side-scrolling shooter as long as you can stay alive. The graphics remind me of a 16-bit title.
I would also add V.I.P. (even though it's tough near the end), King of the Fighters '99, All-Star Slammin' D-Ball, and Saiyuki: Journey West.
I second Gekioh: Shooting King, Italian Job, and One Piece Mansion, which is good but just too slow. I thought One Piece would be more Tetrisy, but its more of a strategy-type.
Did anybody like Sheep? I still can't get my herd to follow me...

I've been snapping up cheap PS1 games for about a year now... most of it is crap... there is one 9.99 PS1 game I haven't been able to find but I really want it (It's a jigsaw puzzle game, if anyone wants to find a copy for me hint hint)...
Two budget games that I really enjoyed were Star Sweep (which incidently has the most catchy theme music I've ever heard in a game) and Cross Road Crisis.
Crisis is sort of like Pipe Dream... you build a path for a penguin to walk across. It's addictive as hell.
Star Sweep is a tetris 2 esq drop puzzler... the instruction book and story is so un-intentionally funny that I had tears running out my eyes (Some shit about a heavenly pig that vomits up these pieces and on and on... lol). Excellent puzzler... ****1/2. I wish I could find a friend who likes puzzle games because I have yet to play the two player mode. Fucking friends only like to shoot each other... when I suggest playing Pokemon Puzzle League or a similar puzzler they look at me as if I just farted in church.
I recently got this battling tops game called Beyblade for 8.99 at Costco... it has to be the worst idea for a video game ever. I mean seriously... a game where you launch tops and then watch them hit eachother for what seems like forever... it's disturbing that someone actually got paid to think up that idea.

Yeah I saw that and thought WTF! I remember when those came out and I thought they were a dumb idea (hey lets play battling tops!), and then they went and made a video game out of it. What next? Pogs the video game?

Exactly - it's too slow, but otherwise a cute game. Just needed a bit of a kick to jump start the gameplay.

Sheep on the PSX is excellent, highly recommended. You don't get the herd to follow you as much as you "coax" them to head toward the goal. Watch out for those threshers. And the crop-sharks... Great fun, but the later levels are TOUGH. :)

Check out my column in the latest Tips & Tricks! I covered about a dozen of the late releases (at least as of 2 months ago).
Beyblade is based on a cartoon series. Think Yu-Gi-Oh with metal spinning tops. Weird. And yeah, the game bites, hard.
Inayusa is based on a cartoon series too, so is Dragonball Z. I don't particularly enjoy either show but I thought both games were pretty decent.
Jigsaw Madness is a pretty good game, though there are few Japanese head-to-head jigsaw games that do the job better. Still, it's an interesting title, competently done.
Final Fantasy Origins is a no-brainer must-buy.
Gek-i-oh rocks. Turnabout rocks. Three Stooges kicks ass too and I don't know what version it's ported from but it's similar yet different than any of the old Cinemaware Three Stooges games I've played.
Sol Divide is pretty good, I'm impressed that there's an extra home version mode in this release, that shows some "care" vs. just porting the game over.
Avoid Gubble, Street Racquetball, Pinobee, and both of those girlie dancing games (which by the way I usually enjoy) Superstar and Bratz.
I haven't tried Big Strike Bowling yet.

The only problem I had with "Jigsaw Madness" is that on the back it says "Play with a friend or play against the computer," But there is no computer play. Even "Pieces" for SNES had a computer player.

my co-worker said he saw the jigsaw puzzle game less than 2 days ago, but we can't find it anywhere now. and we have it under a generic SKU number... so we can't search our inventory for it either... =\

Anybody tried out that Air Hockey PSX game yet? For some odd reason, I'm almost tempted to drop some cash on it, even though I already have a physical air hockey table. Sad, eh? ; )

I found Gekioh and Sol Divide pretty boring, and Mobile Light Force almost gave me motion sickness with its jerky scrolling. I'd go for Strikers 1945 instead. It's a better shooter than the other three combined.
The best picks from your list, I think, are Final Fantasy Origins (an excellent set of classic RPG remakes) and Metal Slug X (a first-rate action/shooter). Other than those two, Saiyuki: The Journey West is a decent strategy/RPG, and Capcom vs. SNK Pro is fun, so long as you have no intention of ever owning the far superior Capcom vs. SNK and CvS 2. Castlevania Chronicles is a good buy if you're big on the old-school Castlevanias, which I'm not.
PLUG: I reviewed a few of these games on my site, so follow the link below if you'd like more of my opinions.

Tomorrow is my kid-sister's birthday and I'm going to be going all over town looking for some shitty CD for her... so if anyone is looking for any rare PS1 late release games then hook me up with a list. I'll pick them up on the condition that you Pay-Pal me the money as soon as I confirm I have it. The Shopko by my house has lots of weird PS1 games I've never heard of... one of them is called Wizard's Maze or some shit like that.
BTW, I did catch the newest Tips & Tricks, but it doesn't say which games of the late release ones have a limited print run. I mean, some of these stupid 9.99 games are sold at a couple GROCERY stores in my town. So basically, I'm skeptical that most of these are going to be rare. I've noticed that several of them are for sale pretty much everywhere. And then there is stuff like Jigsaw or Sea Monkeys that I haven't seen at any store (and I'm always looking for new 9.99 PS1 games lol). So, does anyone have a decent list?
