I am curious how many Halo 1 and Halo 2 versions there are? Here are what I think exist so far:

Halo 1
1. Regular Halo
2. Halo Game of the Year
3. Halo Platinum Edition

Halo 2
1. Regular Halo
2. Halo in metal tin.

Any others?

There's the employee "not for resale" versions of each and a second version of the "GOTY" for Halo 1 that came with the halo console.

Halo
Halo:CE
Halo CE GOTY Foil
Halo:CE GOTY Paper
Halo:CE Not For Resale MS Store
Halo:CE Not For Resale Bundle version from Halo XBox.
Halo:CE PH
Halo:CE Best of PH **not 100% sure of this one**

Halo 2
Halo 2
Halo 2 There is a later release that has some of the updates on it
Halo 2: LE (in metal tin)

Halo Three-pack Includes Halo:CE PH, Halo 2, Halo 2 Map Pack.

Halo 3
Halo 3
Halo 3: Limited Edition
Halo 3: Legendary Edition

There are also Demo tins for both H2 and H3 Limited Editions.

Neither came games, but the tins are special in that the H2 tin says Not For Resale on the front and the H3 tin has a RP sticker on one side, and when flipped over, there is just another H3 logo and no info about the game.

I have a press release that says they made it, but i don't think i've ever seen one. They might have just cut the price on the standard platinum edition and called it even.

Yup, they're all over the Best Buy locations around here. $10 is not a bad pick-up if you don't already own it. Better than getting the download IMO.

It's all 3 disc in their proper cases, I had this 3-pack a few years ago.

Thanks everyone for the great info and detailed lists. Does anyone have a pic of the Halo CE: Not For Resale from the Halo XBOX?

And the copy of Halo 1 that came in my triple pack was the platinum hits version, so I can triple confirm that one.

No one has mentioned the 'Platinum Hits' version of Halo 2.

Because there is no official release for it. That packaging art it out there, but there are no copies out there. S1lence and I are about 98% sure it didn't get released.

I really hope no one actually paid the $15 to get the buggy download version. If no one buys those versions for that price maybe Microsoft will take the hint: either lower the price to $5 or add achievement points or something else to make it worth our while to buy again.

Well I am now 100% sure that it exist. It just showed up in Best Buy this week. It should be in your local one as well.

As long as he adds the PH version of Halo 2 than I'd say it's complete.....until the PH version of Halo 3 comes out:)

What 1 2 P said. The PH of Halo 2 is out and about in places that still sell new XBox games (Best Buy springs to mind).

If we're keeping with the 'Halo' theme, then you'd want to also add

Halo Wars
Halo Wars Limited Edition

Although no one specified "for Xbox" anywhere ... if that's not assumed, you'd also have:

Halo: Combat Evolved for Windows
Halo: Custom Edition for Windows (no retail release, but downloaded and keyed to the retail version)
Halo: Combat Evolved for Mac

and

Halo 2 for Windows

Living in the SF bay area, I see a ton of the MS store copies of games at local record stores. It's just a generic sticker on the plastic part of an Xbox case. Does it have any more value than a non-store version? A person could just swap the art insert....

The insert does matter because its got a Not For Sale bar on it (that doesn't have a Game of the Year burst on it). Those stickers are also the devil to try and remove.

Doesn't mean that they are worth 2k monies, but they are much more uncommon than the regular versions.

For the Microsoft Store halo i posted, check out the "Not For Resale" just to the right of the ESRB rating. That's not a sticker, it's a variant. It's also the reason that variant hunting for the Xbox1 is neigh impossible. Nobody knows how many games got that treatment or how many copies were made. I know that later versions of Halo1 from the microsoft store did not have that insert and were just regular retail copies.

We now have one more copy of Halo 3 (http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/xbox-360-getting-bundle-with-halo-3-fable-ii/) to add to the list, coming in May.

Yeah, but is that true for all games sold in the MS store? I know this thread is dedicated to Halo, but I was speaking generally.

Later games tend not to have the "microsoft store" sticker, and at some point they stopped making the custom title pages for them.

As an aside, I've seen games from the Electronic Arts store with silver foil stickers on the edge where you open the case, indicating it was purchased from there.
