Playing games while inebriated

I live in Oregon and as you probable know, it has its four seasons. This last winter I had the opportunity to play through FFIII(J) Nes repro, Earthbound Zero Nes repro and Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii) due to the rainy weather. Throughout the entirety of all these titles, I was consistently high and thus don't particularly remember these games. Rest assure, all these games really kicked ass.

Same can be said for last summer when I played Earthbound on SNES drinking half and half rum and cokes. I was pretty drunk throughout the entirety of the game. Pretty strange to be playing an RPG drunk considering they require patients and and an attention span.


Anyone else have similar stories.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT. About a month ago when I was rolling on ecstasy, I played NBA 2k8 on 360 for the very first time (Cause I hate sports games) while listening to Justice/Benny Benassi/Daft Punk and my room mate said I was kicking ass. I guess I will give sports games another shot.

One time at a party while I was in University everyone was taking turns playing mortal kombat trilogy for the N64. I had a little too much to drink that night and stumbled over to the guys who were playing. I challenged them to a game and they insisted that I was too inebriated to play but they caved and let me play anyway. Needless to say I dominated every one of them and my friend who was there told me the next day that I was passing out between rounds and still kicking ass.

Not too long ago, I played one of the Madden games (either 2004 or 2005) on the original Xbox while drunk. I still managed to put up a lot of points but I was definitely a few steps behind on pass defense. I knocked the opposing teams starting QB out of the game on the first or second play of the game, which led the CPU team to bring in the backup QB who was either Jeff Blake or Charlie Batch. One of those two. Well whoever it was, that backup proceeded to put nearly 400 passing yards and 3 TD's on my ass.

Still won the game by a wide margin but typically I lay waste to the computer in single-player mode. Biggest problem was that the alcohol was messing with my mind, so I continually called the same plays over and over again on D. Add in the fact that I was calling bonafide run stuffing plays in surefire deep passing situations (i.e. 3rd and 13, etc.) or prevent defense plays when the CPU was certain to call a run.

Drinking and playing video games is pretty standard fare, really. More interesting would probably be accounts of games on strange drugs, like playing Katamari Damacy after eating some peyote or something.

my friend was writing a walkthrough for the game at the time and we had been playing it alot and going over stages. anyways we started drinking heavily on web spiders stage and found out the the usually simple boss was a diffrent beast altogether when you have a few shots in you.

I used to play "Drinking Dr. Mario" - it was the only way the game could be challenging. Take a drink after each level. At first, you're drinking pretty quickly, but as the levels get more difficult and it takes longer, the drinks are spread out a bit more.

Highly recommended.

One time at college during homecoming week, I went out on Thursday night and got completely wasted and when the bars closed at 2 A.M. I ended up going home and when I finally regained my memory I had been playing madden for 6 hours straight. I was surprised to see that I had won all the games, so I saved my season, took a shower and went to my morning class.

i don't know anyone who doesn't have a few 'gaming while drunk' stories, usually involving fighting games. I, myself, am a drunken SoulCal master of the first dan.

I don't often do drugs, probably once a year or so, and then it's either pot or mushrooms. Therefore, when I do drugs, I get, and I cannot stress this enough, totally fucked up.

The week after Ikaruga came out, my bass player and I partook of the cannabis and played through it in an hour, with no continues. Then we did it again, got bored, and put in something else.

...Yeah. I can't beat Ikaruga sober with less than five continues. Stoned? No problem. I still don't get it.

Last time I played a game drunk was Super Smash Bros Brawl. This guy seriously thought he could beat me, and all my friends, also drunk, we're like "Dude, dude. Do you know who youre talking to? That's Borman man, dude, no way". Needless to say, I won 2 in a row (for a 2/3), and that was enough for me. Was only at the 8 or 9 beer mark then, I could still sit up.

I also tried Gran Turismo drunk, that didnt work so well. Guitar Hero though wasnt bad, was still managing 90%s

While drunk:

Smash Brothers Brawl- We were all cocked off of Cpt. Morgan and yelling at each other. Even the girls we hang out with who hate videogames were drunk enough to wanna try it talking all like "oooh is that mario, I wanna try it tee hee hee."

played a bunch of other ones pretty fucked up off the booze too but nothing really funny happened except almost passing out with a DS in my hand.

ha ha ha ha, pretty much every game I play BUT, what I do have to say is turn based RPGs are probably the best games to play while smoking. You can take hits any time you want because quick reflexes aren't usually a part of the game, and for me, being lifted while playing an RPG with a good story sucks me in really good.

the only other thing I've done was acid and weed at the same time and tried Mario 3. I wasn't seeing any wierd shit cuz it was kinda weak, but I did start feeling pretty wierd and did not want to play videogames any more. The music we were listening to had "hidden tracks" that I had never heard before so I turned my attention to that, completely forgetting I was playing videogames in the first place.

I beat Guitar Hero 80's on expert while drunk. I have vivid memories of finishing the last set with that firetruck song I think. I tried the next day while sobering up... couldn't do it. I could barely get through half the game.

I do the gaming-while-inebriated on a regular basis, like every week or 2 (last time was last Friday, next time is tomorrow).

One thing I noted: sober, I'm a decent Galaga player. Drunk: I'm one of the worst Galaga players ever.

We've also had quite a few games of Mortal Kombat II while drunk (Midway Arcade Treasures 1 version). Still get my ass kicked, no matter how sober or not I am.

When i was living in Washington state, pretty much all there was to do was drink and play video games so yeah. I'm not a big fan of halo or whatever, but when I would go to my friend's house we would drink and play halo2 online (before halo3 came out). We also used to play SMK quite a bit too. And currently, when I have people over on the weekend, we drink and play Wii Sports. Now that I have MK Wii and Brawl.. those will be played.

Actually, I am usually so stressed out about school and work, etc. The only time I ever have to play video games is when I am just chilling out. So usually I'm drinking or smoking when I play games now.

When I'm stoned I feel like a kid again playing my old games. Thats basically the only reason I smoke - like once or twice a month, nothing serious. In terms of drinking, games can be pretty fun, except when I play Tetris. I just don't have the reflexes and it really pisses me off I can't even get over 50,000 points. My usual range is around 250,000 - 350,000.

So, Tetris while being drunk is bad news.

I seem to get on better with Batrider and Under Defeat after a smoke. I prefer to sit down and have a drink with slower moving games like Resident Evils, RPGs and platformers where you have a chance for a chug of Stella every once in a while. I don't smoke anywhere in the house apart from the kitchen, so if I really want to smoke and do something I'll go sit in the kitchen with GameGear/NGPC or a manga.

I'm truly not a fan of drinking, but we used to play "The tiger woods drinking game" for 360 using 06.

Every stroke under par, dish out a drink.
Every stroke over par, you take a drink.
Dish out a drink for every trophy ball.
Hole in one? Everyone but you chugs a beer (unless its 2-player, then you both do)

18 holes later and 1 or 2 people would be buzzed, with one unlucky bastard drunker than hell =P

Sometimes I would game blazed, that can be either really fun, or really stupid.

It's strange, when I am high, I can TELL that it is a game... I know that makes no sense, but I mean, I can see the sprite layers...like in a cartoon or something, you can tell its flaws, like when characters arent moving you can tell they are just a static image with a moving mouth, which sometimes ruins it.

The blitter effects in Robotron would be gorgeous, tripping. But Sinistar would proably scare the living bejesus outta me, with the constant taunting.

I've played video games while high so often in the past that now whenever I happen to be high, my first instinct is to grab a controller. My fiancée does not share this urge, so often times I'm left with the gaming munchies. I digress...

The first time I tried acid, my good friend and I tried to play Mario Kart for the snes around the time when we were "really feeling it." Now this should be interesting for anyone who's ever played that particular game, ever. You know the feather, and how its basically pointless in battle mode? (Except for as an evasive yadda yadda) Well, needless to say the only time I found the feather enjoyable was on acid. Craig and I were both laughing are asses off doing donuts and watching Yoshi's tongue wag in and out. The feather was the best of all though. We never actually tried to fight each other, but it was still pretty cool. Usually video games are a little too much though when I'm tripping...

My favorite game to play while plain old high is the GTA series, as has been echoed above. Later when I was living with Craig and his gf, I would play GTA-VC on the xbox, and we would huddle over mission plans. When it was time to smoke I would have Tommy pull over and we would just leave the radio on. San Andreas, to me at least, is even more fun to play while high. The arcade-y driving physics are forgiving enough for stoners. Everyone has a favorite thing to do in GTA, but mine is driving the nrg500 motorcycle full throttle at a wall, popping a wheeling, doing a u-turn up and down the wall and speeding away. Since I've beaten San Andreas twice through now, I've recently been playing with different cheats on, and by far the most fun is changing your cars weight to the maximum and watching traffic fly off your bumper. It's kind of like Hulk - UD, which is also really fun while high. Recruit anyone is great too. Sometimes I need to take black elvis for long rides alone, what? I don't even have to mention the magical union of motorcycle and parachute. Someone buy my a 360 quick before I tear up. I'll totally smoke you down...

Mario Party Anything (6 ftw) is great too, on account of the instruction screen before mini games. I love to play anything old, especially genesis or nes, while high as well. I think I could be fucked up on everything in Amy Winehouse's purse and still be able to to take anyone on in Super Tecmo Bowl as the Cowboys. I even have my own team (Satan's Cowboys) on the computer with such awesome player names as Dracula Wolfman, The Hamburgler, Casual Sex, Ltn. Oppenfucker and Timothy Shitcoat. Weed's a hell of a drug.
