Bit of a landmark. The DP store has officially logged in one million dollars in sales! Twenty-nine months nearly to the day, a somewhat regular customer purchased some games and was greeted by our spe...

Seriously. Congratulations. 29 months doesn't seem long at all and $1,000,000 is a lot of sales when you're not a car dealership.

At moments like this people will congraduate you and wish you all the best. However if you were really evil you would go to the people who thought it would fail and go "OH SNAP BITCH!" and promptly slap them across the face.

Or you could just hug the people that supported you, whatever you wanted to do.

Joe Santulli... the million-dollar man!
Are you real? Can I touch you?
Are you the dreamer or the dream?
Are you the singer or the song?
Ideas... thoughts... perceptions.
Will it, one day, all crumble?
Are you the lynchpin? Are you the nexus?
Do you exist between the shadows and the whispers?
Frictionless subatomic macroparticles scream into the night
As we frantically hang on to the moments.

Congratulations Joe.

After taking a look at the basement Saturday, I truly believe that 99% of that milliion went back into the store.

Now when are you going to start expanding?

He'll expand as soon as you get your next book out.

C'mon, Leonard, we're tired of waiting.

I was thinking the same thing. Expanding is the logical choice! And another great choice would be to hire me when you do :) <Oh please release me from my pharmacy HELL>

Congratulations man, you certainly deserve it my friend!

Buzzkill time.

OK, here's something of a revelation for those who actually watch silly congratulatory-type posts two pages deep, and sorry for doing this but I didn't mean for this to be such a rah-rah for ME personally. It's a win for our culture, in my opinion. A monkey running this store in this location would have done it just as well. Here's why I'm not planning opening another store in the near future.

1) I have MS. If you're unfamiliar with this disease (as I was, prior to being diagnosed) it wears on the host, drains energy, and thus causes some problems with the "go go go" mentality. My "go go go" is gone. Good news: I don't really miss it.

2) I've been married for over 15 years and my wife deserves something. Have I provided for us over this time? Sure. But over the past few years whilst building this business it's been ALL her. It's a little embarrassing to be congratulated when I think about what it would have been like if she wasn't working, supporting me.

3) I promise this is the last of the buzzkill. I wouldn't expect anyone to put themselves in my shoes, but imagine you'd begin to ENJOY a slower pace AND more time with your soul mate. I understand that this third point is harder to grasp but it's the most important. To be honest, either one of the previous two wouldn't have changed my pattern. The two combined certainly have.

Open another store in the future? Perhaps. We'll see how things go. But for now, I'm having the time of my life and have no plans on changing that.

I recall awhile back you requesting suggestions for locations of expansion to open another store. Is the potential out there? Yes. Is it near where you already are? Quite possibly. But really it's not necessary. I travel a good 10-20 miles for some of my locally owned game stores and appreciate what they do. Although they don't always have what I'm looking for it's a great experience to talk with the owners and receive a high level of customer service from someone actually interested in the hobby. So if you decide to expand then best of luck to you and I'm sure things will work out.

Regardless, congrats on the milestone. It is something to be proud of and now that you've come this far maybe the $2 million marker is on the horizon.

That's an amazing feat and it also means that I no longer need to ask the question I've been wondering; which came first the website or the store.

Buzzkill? Hard to grasp? Dude, no way! I totally know where you're coming from, brother; I am so there. Spending time with MY soul-mate is all I want to do. I understand you completely and I commend you for it. That's what life is all about! The rest is inconsequential.

And before the website was the fanzine which has been around since the early '90s.

Monkeys? Dude, you know I'm all over the monkeys idea, but we've had these discussions before, and unless they are the same monkeys that helped Matthew Broderick uncover government experiments on animals, you know it takes more than stocking shelves to get people in your store.

And as for you not opening another store, I've got two words for that:

Franchise!

Ok, so I threw that one out there for the fans. But you could look into providing vacation packages for those that want to come and visit from other parts of the country.

DP Travel Services - Providing gamers a reason to get out of their basements.
