Just curious.. what is your preference and why?
I use the Wii-mote/Nunchuck (chuck in right hand Wii-mote in left)

Wouldn't this be better suited for the Modern Gaming board?
And I'd use a GCN Controller or the Classic Controller, simply because I hate that damn motion-sensing dildo.

Not exactly on topic, but am I the only person who constantly sees "MK" in a thread and get confused thinking it's Mortal Kombat and not Mario Kart? If it must be shortened can we call it 'Mkart' or something other than an already well established abbreviation?

Well, the inclusion of 'Wii' and 'Driving' kind of helped to identify it.

I dig the Wii Wheel ... I'm really impressed with it's accuracy / fun factor.

Do you ever wonder why so many people think you're a tool?
On topic, are there any special moves that you must use the wiimote for? Or can you do everything with the classic controller/GC controller to?

I like the wheel but I think I must be gripping it too hard because my hands start to hurt after about a half hour of playtime. I actually have yet to try it with any other controls but suspect that I will try it with the Gamecube controller (my usual preferred setup) before too long.

Yeah, you're right. It's much more likely that someone made a topic about driving preferences in a mini-game contained in a game that is nearing a year old, as apposed to a game with the same initials centered around the concept of driving released three days ago.

You should try playing it with the wii-mote/chuck. Close to the same as a cube controller. I personally use the wii-mote/chuck and enjoy it the best. i use it opposite of most people cuz I like using the joystick in my right hand.

Mkart is too much like all the name combining of celebrity couples that goes on currently.

I prefer the GC controller. Especially for bikes, I find the wheel to be really annoying for getting in and out of the wheelie.

Wavebird all the way here... been timing my flick of thumb onto the pad for the tricks.

I picked the GCN controller, but it only wins by a very slight margin. The wheel works way better than I would have guessed, and the only reason I don't use it exclusively is because in more intense races I often find myself twisting it too much so that it stops registering movement and I have to center it back level again to register.

Some of you may think this is wrong in some way, but my friend came by yesterday to play some brawl, and I used my PS2 controller adapter, and after Brawl we played some MK Wii, and figured since it was plugged in I would try it, The PS2 controller works really well. So anyone else who has an adapter and favors the PS2 controller like I do should try this.

I use the Gamecube controller. The wheel is ok, but I prefer the controller instead.

I didn't even know you could use the wheel + nunchuck, I'll have to try that out.
I currently use the wheel and I'm liking that. I guess if I had money on the game I'd use the gc controller, but since it's just for fun I use the wheel.
I also read Mortal Kombat driving preference, for a second I thought I missed some ultra cheesy game release.

True, but which came first? Mario Kart was released on August 21, 1992 in Japan, and September 1 in the US. Mortal Kombat was also released in 1992, but I was unable to find out exactly when. I'd say whichever is older should rightly be called MK.

Mortal Kombat got the abbreviation by claimng it themselves. Machines in the Arcades said MK2, MK3 .... on the marques. It doesn't matter though. My conusion only lasts a matter of seconds until the post makes the proper game obvious, I'll just live with it.

I am loving the Wheel, it's so much fun.

Personally I like the retro controller. I like the "return to center" option the controls have as opposed to the wheel which you really never know what dead center is after you've started racing.
I haven't tried the GC option though...I might have to try it out.

Definitely Try the mote/chuck, very similar to using a controller, but better as far as doing tricks in the air cuz all you do is flick the wii-mote up.

If I'm just using the controller in the wheel, is it possible to jump/brake around the corner like in old mario karts? I can't seem to figure it out w/this new controller - maybe I need the nunchunk in to do that.

Set sliding to manual before the race and then just press B when using the wheel.
