So I have owned my Sega Saturn for almost a year now and haven't done anything with it. I bought it completely bare bones and would like to know if it works. I was looking at amazon for parts and came across these items:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00002STV7/sr=8-6/qid=1209667526/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1209667526&sr=8-6&seller=
http://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Sega-Power-PlayStation-Saturn/dp/B000021XYT/ref=pd_sim_vg_title_4
Are these the official parts that I need to power my Saturn and connect it to the TV?

Those look like they should work. There are also A/V and S-Video cables out there for the Saturn. The power cable, IIRC, is the same one that is used for the DC and PS1.

The nyko one is obviously not official, since nyko is a 3rd party manufacturer. As far as power goes, dropping 'Saturn power cable' into google gives me some pictures that show what looks like a a Standard shaver/DVD/PS2 power cable. Just make sure you get one with both sides round. The PS2 official cable has a flat edge on one side. I guess u could chop the corners off. here's what is probably an official : http://www.ztnetstore.com/product_info.php?ref=43&products_id=218.
The video cable is the right one.

Okay, I went ahead and bought the RF cord. When it arrives I will try it out with my DC power cord.

RF is pretty common and cheap so thats good but I would recommend if possible getting an SVideo cable I found mine for 10 bucks-well worth it.

You can get one from Play-Asia very inexpensively.

I believe that I picked up my S-video cable from ztnetstore a while back for less than $10. Of course, they sent me one for the Dreamcast instead, but a simple e-mail got it fixed. They even sent me a prepaid mailer to send the wrong one back to them.

I got the part, and used my DC power cord and the system works great. Should the language menu come up? If so, then all is well. Just a couple more questions:
My system has the round buttons, which controller came with that?
What is this huge hole in the back of the Saturn? On the side opposite the cords.

Shouldn't be a huge whole (should have a cover) thats where your battery is and you can install a card for better video etc I believe. The language menu shouldn't come up every time once the battery is changed

Check Radio Shack for the power cord. I know that i could find ones there that would work for a playstation. They might have some that would work for the Saturn.
Edit
Mine is also a round button saturn and it came with this style of controller
