No, the ones I've had done do not. I don't think 'my guy' is very good at it, though, and while they should look very very good after being done, there will always be some ways to tell. Most often are very very faint/fine scratches in long arcs everywhere on the disc.
My finds from this morning:
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds85.jpg
Game.com w/ 3 games for $5. Never seen one of these before, not that that means much.
SNES games 1.80 each
D&D Mattel LCD game 60 cents... too bad no box, as those are actually worth some money.

There are good resurfacers and bad ones. When I worked at a game store for 4 years, I was def. a "master" at it. You could not tell I had resurfaced the discs I worked on. But had you asked a couple of the other employees, you would have had a disc that has a slight haze to it.
I would say for every 1 good user of a buffing machine there will be three poor users. I took a lot of care to each disc, if you rush, you'll end up pushing too hard/ not using enough or too much polishing liquid, etc.
Anyway, now that I'm not in retail anymore, I wouldn't trust any person to resurface any of my discs without them showing me how good of a job they do on another disc first.

I actually talked a Goodwill clerk up on the price of a "Cyberpunk" laserdisc from the Voyager company yesterday. It had a $3.99 sticker on it, but she thought it was a record and started to charge me $.99. I could have easily let it go, and it was her responsibility to know, but it just felt right to point it out.

Ah, Thanks. I just found a place online that resurfaces disks. I may end up contacting DKTheArcadeRat instead then. I want to wait untill I sort through everything and see how many are ugly enough for resurfacing.
... or translation patches.
...like some of the bitchin translations you've done? =D
EDIT: I did also get another pickup: A free GTA IV lock box (empty, of course).

Went to about 45 yardsales total today
Bart Simpson's Escape From Camp Deadly with case - $1
This sale had Beavis & Butthead for the Genesis marked at $1 along with a Brick GameBoy with about 5 games, only decent one I left behind has I had it being TMNT Fall of The Foot Clan. It was marked $10 for all of the GameBoy stuff, I asked about only buying one GameBoy game and the guy running the sale said I could have it for a buck.
Area 51 with manual (PSX) - $1
Mortal Kombat Trilogy with manual (PSX) - $1
Pitfall The Mayan Adventure (PC) - .25
All as marked
Doom complete (PSX) - $1
Spyro The Dragon complete GH (PSX) - $1
Was asking $3 per a PSX game offered a buck each.
Playstation 2 1st party controller - $1
Marked $5 offered a buck. I've had a Playstation 2 since the day they came out and oddly enough the only 1st party PS2 controller I've had all these years is the one that came with my system.
NES 1st Party AC Adaptor - .25
This was found with a GameCube steering wheel as the people running this sale though it went with the steering wheel. Asked about it said a buck countered with .25
Fighter Stick SG-6 (Ascii) (Genesis) - $1
Dennis The Menace (GB)
Killer Instinct (GB)
Mortal Kombat II (GB)
Mario Golf (GBC)
3.90 for the 4 GameBoy games
Donkey Kong (GB) - Free
I found a few controllers at this sale and the Fighter Stick SG-6 had a "make offer" sticker on it which I offered a dollar for and was taken. This was at a community sale and I was on foot and when I walked back by this house on the way back the lady called me over has I asked about video games and her son found about 20 GameBoy to GameBoy Color games that they just put out along with a GameBoy Color system marked $6. I tried out a few of the games on the system and picked out a few went up and asked how much and was told that their son wanted $5 each to which I said I was thinking they'd probably want a dollar a game and was just going to put them back at that starting price. The kid that owned the games was across the street but was coming right back and he ended up saying that a dollar was ok when his parents asked him about it. As I was looking the games over an older lady walked up and was interested in them for a younger family member. When she told the lady that was with her that they were a buck each the other lady said to buy them all since they were only a buck each so the lady buying pondered over it and ended up buying the rest of the games along with the system except for Donkey Kong since who she was buying the games for already had it. She even bought all of the sports games! I would have grabbed a few more if they were cheaper but didn't really need them anyways as realisticly I'd never play them. The games I ended up putting back 720 (GBC) Tony Hawk Pro Skater (GBC), Grand Theft Auto (GBC), ESPN Track & Field (GBC) & Jurrasic Park (GB) if I'm remembering them all. I probably shouldn't have bothered with the fighting games but I mostly picked them up as a gag for their older brothers that are better ROFL and I though I'd give Dennis The Menace a try since I'm hoping it's a decent 2D game. I was almost out of money and was .10 short which was ok with them. As I was leaving the lady running the sale picked up Donkey Kong and gave it to me as to be rid of the last game :)

Got these at Too Many Games this past Sunday....
I live about 2 hours north of were they had the TMGs show. Was thinking about going may I ask about the Powerblade? It looks like it says $25 on it I'm thinking it's probably sealed if that's correct. I wouldn't have minded picking up some stuff if I went since I'm sure the selection was good but can't help but think that the prices would have been to rich for my blood.
I always hear about TMGs and never end up going then figure maybe next year :drinking:

Hit up my local Goodwill today. They had a bare PS1 console for $5 that I passed up. They also had a box of games sitting on a new counter in the back. There were about 20 PS1 games a few N64 games and a GC game or 2 in there. I hope that these were donated from a yard sale or something since all the PS1 games had stickers on them saying $10! Most of the games were Greatest Hits versions and I think the only game in the bunch that may have been worth $10 was Mega Man 8. Needless to say, I went home with my hands empty but my wallet still full.

Decided to stop at Goodwill, and after a good six month drought there, I found something worthwhile. I had just gotten the new issue of Nintendo Power that morning, and they had an article raving about the old Batman Returns game on the SNES. And lo and behold, what do I find in a stack of Maddens? Yup. Things are looking up.
I then decided to check out the childrens VHS section, because once in a while you can find a boxed NES game among the boxed tapes. Didn't find any NES games, but I did find this...
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/joshnickerson/yoshivideo.jpg
Has anybody ever seen this promo VHS before? It's very short, probably about five minutes, and it's the standard "gamer wandering around Nintendo HQ" narrative common in their video offerings. I did notice that it features the same skateboard punk that hosted the Donkey Kong Unleashed video... there was no sort of address label on it, so I guess it was just a store video at one point.

Well, like most this weekend I was out scrounging around all the local garage sales and found some decent items (though not much for ACTUAL games).
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3094/may10findsei0.jpg
Garage sale #1:
- Mario figure = .25 cents
- Kirby starrider figure = found in box marked "FREE"
- Super Mario Advance board game (from Wendy's) = also in "FREE" box
Garage sale #6 or 7 maybe:
- Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis; boxed) = .50 cents
From a friend/co-worker:
- Eye of Judgement (PS3; complete game, camera, playing mat, no cards) = $20.00
Passed on some other things at garage sales today...an original playstation with about 30 games (all junk 5-9 year old games) they were asking $60 for all; most of the games were disc only and beat up.
Also passed on a Genesis that I let my brother have since he didn't have a Gen yet...that lot was nice and included a Genesis system with 2 controllers, Pac-Man Adventures 2(complete), Jungle Book (complete), Toy Story (cart), Taz Escape from Mars (cart), TMNT Tournament Fighters (cart)...all for $10.00

Ok guys, now you need to set your morals aside for a second... because I'm going to teach you to haggle at goodwill! :texaschain:
The best thing to do, is to find something wrong with the jewelcase/manual. Silent hill had a burn mark on the cd case, so that was my ticket. Got home popped it into a new one, and voila!
The best thing to say is, "I noticed all of your cds are the same price, but they are in varying condition. This cd I want has ______ (state problem, real or made up), and I was wondering if you have a price reduction system for damaged goods."
Any time the price is the same for all of a type of thing, you can ask about a "reduced price"
works every time. Needless to say, you better be a people person, attitude is everything.

Correct me if im wrong, but isnt goodwill a charity shop? or is it a pawn shop?
Obviously im not from the USA and im going by what ive heard before it sounds like a charity shop... And is it really right to haggle with a charity shop?

heh, first off, "set all morals aside" =P
And second, it's a store that you donate gently used goods to. They then sell them for cheap, with a target consumer of lower income families and those in need. A portion of the profits go to public help programs, like for disability, etc.
IMO, it's not a big deal to haggle with them... In my area, they get a TON of business. a TON.

Oh and a $30 genesis with no cables.
I guess for a find, one of the Naruto's I bought a clearence at Target was traded for a complete copy of Guilty Gear X.
I also bought the following at the flea Market:

I don't haggle with thrift stores, period. I'll ask about the price of an item if it appears off, like a record with a $10 tag and not sure if it's theirs or came already on the item because they're normally $1 each. Now if they ring an item up wrong then I'll ask them to look it up or get a manager. Sometimes I let it slide if it's not a major mark-up because it's charity. If it were a pawn shop or flea market then haggling is fair game, they're there for a profit and operate by practically ripping people off to make the highest profit margin possible and create a haggling or price dropping buffer to work with customers. At a thrift, just like any other second-hand shop, if the item doesn't sell it'll come down in price in a few weeks, otherwise someone else wants it more than me so let them have it.

hahaha, I think we ALL feel the pain as far as sports games. They are the proverbial muck we have to wade through. I swear I've seen like 60 copies of Madden in the past week alone!
I guess it's because they come out with new ones every damn year, with one game for each sport... so there are a million copies, and nobody wants to keep their old versions.
At first it got me mad, but now it's kind of a good thing. When I see a bunch of Madden games, I know that they at least stock games.
It's like a needle in a haystack type of thing, but the madden at least lets me know where the haystack is =P

Found Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge in excellent shape (besides a small crack in the case which can easily be swapped out) at my local Goodwill. I had never heard of it, so I looked it up in the guide. There it says that "The rear insert has no artwork printed on the inside (of the jewel case)." But mine does. Is that unusual, or is the guide wrong?

I bought a few things off Craig's List in my area. I really am only collecting sega stuff for the most part. Well, only genesis and dreamcast stuff. Anyway, I bought a cdx and 32x and some games off Craig's List for a total of $30. It might not be the best deal, but something I really wanted, so I always find that it does not matter what you pay up to a certain point.

That is great. I was not too sure about the cdx, but I knew that I wanted the 32x. Great surprise. That is why I like this site. Way more knowledgeable people than me. I surely learn a lot. I am really just getting back into collecting so I am not always aware of what thing might be worth. Sometimes when you see something on Craig's List you just have to jump at it.
Now I just need to find some more games for my cdx and 32x. What can the cdx do that makes it so valuable or desirable?

well, it is a genesis and a sega CD combined into one tiny and attractive package. Does it need to do more? ;) "Yes" you say? Well, stick some batteries in it and it is a portable CD player! It totally sucks for that, though.
It really is just that it is pretty uncommon and very useful as a space saver (vs. a standard segaCD and Genesis setup). The JVC x'eye is another one to look out for. Same deal: combined CD/genesis unit, not as sleek or attractive if you ask me, but it can actually be repaired if it breaks, which is much more difficult on the CDX.

I try to ask at every garage sale. You never know what comes up.

Man. There were tons of Ps1 and DC games at a certain booth but a couple of... women, to use that word, would not let me get to them. They hoarded them all. And they stole a few too, taking the discs out of the cases and putting them inside the ones they took.
So you bust their asses, bring it right out in public. To the seller: "Hey, check those cases, check inside, they're doubling up and ripping you off!!" I've done this many times with total assholes that aren't just being rude (trying to pull stuff out of my hands, acting like the whole area is their personal market, etc.) but being flat out thieves as well. Usually results in the seller not doing business with them, they storm off, and then I get a thank you and most of the time a better price.
Last time that happened I picked up a boxed original Game Boy and put it under my arm, then I continued through a box of crap and found a boxed F-1 Race, as I prepared to inspect the contents this guy just shows up and starts grabbing at it, after some pulling back and forth I shoved his stupid ass out of the way and let him to the rest of the box. Turns out he found a NES down in there, took a SMB/DH cart out of a plastic case, put it in the system, and then tried to get it free. Sure, that's not valuable but I told the seller after I paid for my GB items. Turns out he shoved two games in the deck. Finding a game in a system you just bought is always a nice bonus but stuffing decks full of games to pull a fast one on honest sellers - shame. Not wanting to do business with him, the seller said he wanted $45.00 for it - I think the other game was Golf. LOL

The problem is, they're also resellers. They buy tons of clothes, toys, plates, and stuff to resell in Mexico. And they do a lot of business with this particular booth. Saying something wouldn't have made a difference.
With any luck they left the games behind... knowing the seller, he would've asked for $7-10 per game, and that's way too much money for these people to pay for a fifteen year old game.

There is a my "competition" (seen person last 2 weekends) on my garage sale visits on the weekend. I don't mind competition but last time, I was looking at a pile of $2 PS2 games and while I was flipping through the pile, the A$$ grabs the pile just below the game I was looking at and walked off with them (to ask owner for a price) and I guess deny me from looking at them.
Good thing I was there 5 mins earlier and had seen nothing interesting so I was just seeing which I may get.
Some people are just plain psycho, now if I had seen something I wanted ..... :argue:

From a CD/Game Exchange I went to this evening:
NES:
Wrath of the Black Manta (cart only) - $1
Pro Wrestling (cart only) - $1
Genesis:
Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast (complete) - $2.50
Tecmo Super Baseball (complete) - 50 cents
Game Gear:
Dragon Crystal (w/ GG game case) - $5
I overpaid a bit for Dragon Crystal, but I passed up a cart only copy for the same price at NWCGE last September, and this is the first copy I've seen in the wild since then (which is somewhat odd considering that it's an R2). Pro Wrestling is going to a friend.

Kinda ho hum day at the thrifts. Left with an a/c adapter with the right power for a NES and a BK Barnstorming LCD from the first three I went to, that's it. Then Goodwill had a nice selection of cables from Target, not to mention a new Sixaxis controller for $7, a wii wi-fi usb thingy, couple NES games, and a Saturn driving wheel (marked 14.99, but blue tagged, so it was only 1.49 today).

Stopped by a local gamestop and picked up Spy vs Spy for gameboy and Super Dodgeball Advance for $9 and change
Might have a really nice deal going via Craigslist for an NES bundle and a Dreamcast bundle. Both for much less than one should cost... Will update when it's final. Curious? Huh? Huh? =D

The flea market on Tuesday was slimmer than usual with many big sellers cutting out for greener pastures this week - including many produce vendors due to free spots at a farmer's market. This kept foot traffic far lighter so I was hoping that things would be less picked over than usual. Cy wasn't there which alone kills a lot of the crowd.
First thing I came across were some loose NES games, nothing incredible but some uncommons and a couple hard to find titles - the only one of interest (that I didn't have) was a copy of The Immortal. I picked it up and continued along to a Colecovision system with the VCS expansion module and power adapter, a Rocky Super Action Boxing cartridge was shoved into the expansion module. The lady running the spot wanted $10.00 for the system and $2.00 for the NES games, fair enough. The Colecovision works perfectly as does the expansion module, both controllers feel smooth and responsive. I'll more than likely sell this system as I have a boxed complete one.
CV - System, controllers, expansion module #1, Rocky ($10.00)
NES - The Immortal ($2.00)

A couple random pickups from different vendors. A new seller had a bunch of video game consoles loose under piles of crap along with some games. She wanted $10.00 for a Model 2 Saturn and a copy of Super Mario Bros. 3. The Saturn was totally loose and was filthy inside and out so I passed on it (what a difference an AV cable would have made) but I ended up buying the copy of SMB 3 for $3.00 - will go good with the NES bundle I'm setting up. The Atari XE lightgun was $5.00 - yes, yet another one of these - hopefully this one will work, I want to play Crossbow with it.
NES - Super Mario Bros. 3 ($3.00)
XE / 7800 - XE lightgun ($5.00)

Finally stuff from Shorty, he had a loose copy of Metroid I passed which I should have grabbed. His selection is slipping to now all time lows but he had a few Atari cartridges that he didn't have out before, $1.00 each as usual.
2600 - Zaxxon ($1.00)
5200 - Jungle Hunt ($1.00)
5200 - Keystone Kapers ($1.00)
5200 - River Raid ($1.00)
5200 - Vanguard ($1.00)

Again, nothing great but I know for sure that Colecovision would have been gone if the normal crowds were there.
Might have a really nice deal going via Craigslist for an NES bundle and a Dreamcast bundle. Both for much less than one should cost... Will update when it's final. Curious? Huh? Huh? =D
Not until you actually have it. I see great deals all the time that don't work out - which makes them pointless.

+1
I picked up 2 NES controllers, 2 SNES a/v cables, and a Genesis 3-button today. Two bucks each. Passed on some good GBA games, but that thrift charges 14.80 for all their GBA games. I maybe should have grabbed Zelda Minish Cap, but glad I passed on Pokemon Sapphire and Leaf (an 8 or so others).

My mom called me at work today to ask about some NES games she found at Goodwill. She ended up getting me
Mario 2
Mario 3
Tecmo Super Bowl
Dr Mario
Rally Bike
All for $5. There were some others that I passed on. I didn't have Rally Bike, and the rest are for resales. Mario 2 and 3 add $$$ to system bundles and Tecmo Super Bowl still goes for $20 at the right time.

Seconded. I remember seeing a thread in an NES forum one time that was titled "NES system + 87 games for $10!" Myself and others went in expecting that some congratulations were in order, only to find that this kid was just the high bidder on an auction that had like six days left.

I got in a lot of video game magazines (about 100). Mostly Gamepros but a few other assorted mags (PSM, Tips & Tricks, etc..). No picture at the moment as I left them in the box so they'll be easier to move in a week. Now, if I could only find room at my new place for them. :)

You can get at least a half hour out of it. Maybe more if you like finding rediculous things to do with barney. Such as launching animals into the air.
I really like this game, no joke.

Well, I'm currently on a trip down to south Louisiana. I decided to hit a few thrifts, and found a decent amount.
On the drive down I managed to hit a thrift that I can never arrive at while it's open (it closes at 2:30pm). Pretty disappointing, all I found was a loose Bible Adventures for the NES loose, and only found it while poking through the 8-track bin. It was only 99¢.
Samurai Shodown for the 3DO (disc only) - $9.99
Dungeon Explorer for Sega CD (disc only) - $2.99
Jurassic Park - The Lost World for Sega Saturn (disc only) - $5.99
The last three disc-only games were bought at a Play N Trade store in Lake Charles. Later that day, I hit a Goodwill store in Sulphur and found a bunch of Atari 2600 games (and some Intellivision games), taped together in bundles of threes for 99¢ a bundle. Some of them were fairly rare, so I snatched them up. A bunch of loose commons, along with not quite so commons:
Miner 2049'er
Final Approach
Tac-Scan
Sub-Scan
Gorf
Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatoes
Crypts of Chaos
Tron Deadly Discs
Dice Puzzle (by Panda)
Thunder Castle (Intellivision)
I also picked up Tengen's Fantasy Zone for the NES there for $4.99.
At another thrift in Lake Charles I picked up a few boxed Atari 2600 games: Chopper Command, Tennis, Boxing, Night Driver, and Dragster. All $1.98 each.
And at another Goodwill I bought Parker Bros. Bank Shot Electronic Pool, the little electronic LED handheld game from the early '80s. Still in it's original box with instructions, but the inside packing stuff was missing. Still, nice little find, especially in the great condition it's in. I love picking up these old electronic toys from that time period.

Picked up a lot of 12 complete SMS games today, from the same Goodwill where I got the pile of 17 a few weeks ago. Somebody must be slowwwwwwwwwly cleaning out the basement or something. Anyway, this time around:
After Burner
Astro Warrior
Casino Games
Fantasy Zone:The Maze
Great Golf
Monopoly
The Ninja
Penguin Land
Quartet
Reggie Jackson Baseball
Shanghai
Walter Payton Football
All complete, 99 cents each. Also picked up Dragonball Z Budokai 1 and 2 for PS2, complete, and a couple loose Nintendo carts including Castlequest (R4) all 99 cents each. Total outlay about 18 bucks.
