yep, that's right i was at a local thrift store looking around today and i couldnt beleive my eyes when i saw a JVC X'ee sitting on a shelf with 9.99 on the price sticker. i snagged it immediatly. ill post some pics later, it was just the bare console but i had suitable hookups for it at home and it works, just needs a good cleaning. helluva a find eh? :P

Not bad, but not unheard of 'round these parts (DP forums, that is). I love my X'Eye and it receives regular use.

Anyway, nice find!

Nice find! Once you get an X'Eye you won't need anything else. :)

Yeah, a 32X would do you good. But what I meant was that you longer need a Genesis/SCD combo or a CDX.

im thinking of selling this thing, i dont really play segaCD games much and it's based on the model 2 genesis chipset, meaning that the sound isnt as good as my model 1 genny...

I picked up a second X-Eye as part of a huge video game lot but I don't know what it would equate to. But probably not as good as $10. Nice grab.

On the contrary, my X'Eye sounds crystal clear compared to my model 1 (which sounds terrible). Are you using a Genesis 2 AV cable or standard RCA cables (most X'Eyes can use either)?

Those standard composite cables make for incredible sound. The picture isn't bad either.

I had a chance at an X'Eye for $20 a few years back. I didn't take it, because the owner said it was pretty damaged cosmetically. In hindsight, I do regret it, but I did get a free Sega CDX this past July, so I think that makes up for it.

that's the problem i have, i dont like the cleaner sound. the bass sounds different and in general the music sounds much better to me on my early model 1 genny. (i got one without TMSS :D) different revisions of genny hardware had varying sound quality due to various chips being changed (something about using cheaper clones of the chips or so ive heard) or integrated into other stuff. theres a page that talks about this, i can link to it later. it's all a matter of personal preference i guess, some people like the sound of the older ones, some people prefer the sound of the newer revisions.

Was it in Box? 10 dollars was how much I paid 2 years ago at a flea market with some games.

nahh it was a bare console, no cables or anything. i had a suitable AC cord at home (9 volts 1.5A) and it uses regular RCA cables for AV so ive got it hooked up right now to a universal VGA box
