Ah, now here's an obscure little title that deserves more recognition

This TurboGrafx-16 pinball game is rarely talked about, even when people talk about pinball sims. Even when people talk about TurboGrafx-16 pinball sims (usually Devil's Crush gets the chatter). So it seems the DP Random Game Generator of Eternal Peril has chosen something in order to bring it to everyone's attention. As if it's trying to tell us all something. What could it mean?

What do you think of the game? How does it rate with other pinball games and why do you think it's so underrated? Share your opinions and write your own mini-review here!

DP Guide sez:

Time Cruise (Turbografx-16, by TTI) $15/R3 +
a.k.a. Time Cruise 2 (PC Engine)
Developed by Face. Traditional/Video Pinball. EASTER EGGS: a) Miscellaneous: At the "Option Mode" menu screen: Press Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left, II, II, II, II, SELECT, SELECT. A new menu selections, titled "90,000,000 Start" will appear. b) Hidden Practice Stages: The "Practice" option in Time Cruise usually allows you to play only two of the "Bonus Chance Stages." But if you press Up, Up, Down, Down, II, II, Right, and SELECT while the "Practice Mode" menu is on the screen, you can check out all of the game's hidden bonus stages. SANTULLI SLANT: There are three pinball games for the TG-16, each better than the one that preceded it: first there was the rather terrible Alien Crush, then the excellent Devil's Crush, and finally the superb Time Cruise. The idea is that you're traveling to different times and there are some nifty little side games to add variety, but it's the pinball that works the best. Dead-on ball physics and speed. Maybe just a bit too easy, though - you'll have to be awakened by the player who just finished his/her turn. [Gr: 8, So: 8, Ga: 9, Ov: 8] c1992 Face. #TGX040090.

Tom Cruise, he's dreamy!
Oh wait, you said TIME Cruise. Never mind.
I liked Devil's Crush (aka Dragon's Fury) quite a bit, but Tengen really screwed up the sequel, Dragon's Revenge. The ball physics didn't feel right at all and the graphics were clumsily drawn. The moral of the story? If you're going to make a sequel to a great video game, have the original designers do the job.
