Trouble with "The Suffering" (XB)

I can't figure out how to get past the baseball field level.
Those monsters just keep coming and coming! I've been playing the same friggin' level for months! It's no longer fun anymore. It was a great game up to this.
I am starting to realize that the title is very fitting for this game. I looked at some walkthrus online that were no help, and I don't want to use cheats.
Any tips? End my suffering!

If your talking about the slayers (monsters with blades for hands) that keep coming out of the trees use the spot lights at the side and shine them at the trees that will stop them from appearing. Then keep going straight you will see a ladder and in front you will see your path blocked by fire with a large box in front don't climb down the ladder yet go to the box and push it down the ladder and an explosion will happen before you climb down make sure you shined one of the spot lights at the big red hole in the ground or slayers will come out of it now climb down ladder and go through the hole the explosion left and thats it the rest should be straight forward.

Thanks SuperNES! That helped. I had pointed the spotlight correctly, but didn't realize they were off and went down the ladder to the field. When I got the checkpoint I thought I was doing right up to there. Had to go back up and turn them on with the right trigger.
This game is fun again... Almost done.
I hope Ties That Bind is as good as this, gonna play that next.

The Suffering is probably one of the best Survival Horror games out there. I remember not expecting much from the game, but I was pleasantly surprised when I played it, I'm not so sure about the sequel tho.
