I enjoy playing Joust from time to time and I've noticed that the midway port for GBA is pretty bad. It definitely is not emulated. And on the higher levels it seems pretty buggy.

I remember a Joust being release for the Game Boy Color; is this any good?

I like the Lynx version a lot, assuming you're willing to track down a Lynx to play it. The GBC version is pretty good and would probably be easy to find. Defender is on the same cart and that's not a bad port either.

The GBC port is pretty solid; I recommend over the GBA version. Plus Moon Patrol is on the same cart!

Definitely the GBC version. It's part of the Defender + Joust cart. But make sure you get the GBC version, because the original GB compilation that predates it by a few years is vastly inferior.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'll definately pick up the GBC version.

I'll also take a look into acquiring the Lynx version as well.

Before I let this post go let me tell you how buggy GBA Midway Joust is:

This happens after level 8 or so:

- Half my characters sprite goes missing when there is too much on the screen

- I occasionally 'skid' on platforms that do not exist

- Twice I have successfully killed the pterdactyl facing the other direction!

Obviously NO ONE play tested this game at all!

Yep.. it's pretty well known how bad the GBA version of the Williams/Midway classics is.. even the normally clueless site reviews at the time saw it. Not to mention it came out at a time when GBA games were pretty high profile so it's funny how the GBC port of Joust/Defender just kills it.

I just got this at Christmas. Although I got it from my nephews and nieces I think I am going to dump it ASAP :D

Even the freaking Game.com version of the Williams pack beats the crap out of it. Try Sinistar on the GBA release sometime. It's 100% unplayable due to the controls being completely broken.

I was really looking forward to the Joust Evolution on Vectrex but Vectorzoa sold it to Mayhem and I don't think that he has any intentions of releasing it to the public under any name.

I think it's pretty good on the PSP.
