Manuals (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170217960775)
Carts (http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Test-Cartridge-Lot-NES-SNES-N64-RARE-CART_W0QQitemZ170217956800QQihZ007QQcategoryZ13997 3QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
i'd love to get ahold of these (especially the manuals) so i can contribute the information to the game tech community.. as we currently have only what we've figured out ourselves and precious little else.. but i'd never ever spend that much money..
are these manuals really insane rare? or is there a chance i could pick them up elsewhere for a much lower price?

I'm not sure about the tech manuals, but I can tell you that the test carts can't be worth nearly $300 apiece, at least not for the NES. That is to say, the Port Test Cartridge is an R10, but the others are R8s and the Joystick Test is an R9. There's no listed price for the Port Test, but there's no way it alone can make up $1200 of the Ebay total. The two SNES carts are listed at $150 each.
The most intriguing item to me is the N64 test cart, as it's listed as a "Rumor Mill" R0 item here at DP. If this thing is legit and not just a clever fraud (there are no other pics for the cart available from the seller), I can imagine it might command a hefty sum. Perhaps that is the justification for the steep price.
Most of the consoles by this time have been dissected and parts can be fashioned, if not simply purchased off the shelf, to service them...

Nope. 90% of the information is NOT available on the Internet, and lets just say the NES binder ALONE is a Nintendo collector's Wet dream.

Prices went up. Test carts are worth way more than the DP guide suggests. Especially NES.

N64 test cart is real. Not a fraud. It was shown at CGE. Very Rare.

bum, i was afraid of that.. Anyone know anyone who's got any tech manuals like these? Theyre out of reach for my collection, but id like some info from them. Im not just talking about repairs, but going right into the depths of the inner workings.

You would have to ask around on the buy/sell forum or look on Ebay. Some of the test carts come up for sale fairly often for $100-200, others are rarer and sell for $200-300. The binders are really rare, rarer than most of the test carts IMO. I haven't seen one on sale for awhile now.

GrandAmChandler...jdchess here. I haven't been on in a while. How have you been doing? I'm happy to see that those repair center manuals of yours are still in a good home and are being looked after;) I finally sold all the test carts I had except for my N64 cart. It's the only one I have left now.
