You just canīt go wrong with NGCD, many will complain about its loading time PERSONALY it did not bores me.
Got mine by trading with a N64+Controller+Memory Pack+Shitevania!
I think 80% of the MSV/AES was release by the cd system.
Metal Slug 1&2
KOF 94-99
Samurai Shodown 1-4
Art of Fighting 1-3
and alot more.
This is my current Neogeo CD Collection
-Art of Fighting 2
-KOF 94
-KOF 95
-Savage Reign
-Mutation Nation
-Samurai Shodown 2
-Soccer Brawl
Yeah, i like fighting games even with loading times!
Another issue you may have is about the controllers, with time it loses the precision but i found(and lost) a tutorial on net that turn it 100% again.

Pretty much every Neo Geo game from before 1999 came out on the Neo CD, so most of the Neo geo games people remember are available. The main exceptions being Metal Slug X and 3 and of course the later KoFs and all post-SNK games. It also got releases for a number of games that didn't otherwise have home releases, most notable in my opinion being Neo Drift Out. There's even one or two CD games that were never released on the MVS like Samurai Shodown RPG (which did come to the Saturn, though).
Personally, I think a consolized MVS is *BY FAR* the best way to go if you're looking to get a Neo Geo system, but I really don't think you'll be disappointed with the Neo CD, either.
A very good Neo geo emulator was recently released for the DS, so I've been digging into the Neo Geo library and discovering and rediscovering so many great games that it just blows my mind. The Neo Geo is simply a phenomenal system no matter which version you get.

yeah they're pretty great for neo playing (I like the controllers they have the same joystick as the NGPC with that clicky sound) there are several versions to consider one of which is faster and one of which is toploading. Neo driftout is great. Samsho RPG has translations available and is cool to. Make sure to keep it ventilated well (no carpet!) now I will refer you to neogeo.com forums
Personall I don;t have any neo hardware at the moment (just my DC games) but I owned a huge NGPC collection and plan to eventually get an MVS cab

The CD exclusives ROCK, too. I can't speak for SS RPG as i haven't played it, but Brikinger and Crossed Swords 2 are awesome (but, expensive!)
I love my NGCD, and only a few games have loading times so bad as to be really bothersome.
