I've never played a Dual Stick game.......

Recommend one for me that has a home port and a proper controller.

Karate Champ
Battlezone
Robotron

...and I recently got a hold of a Playstation Analog Joystick Controller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Analog_Joystick). Looking forward to exploring some Mechwarrior or Iron Soldier 3 goodness with that! :)

I think it would be good to list the games that have 2-stick control:

Battlezone
Robotron
Crazy Climber
Crazy Climber 2 (Japan only, but still...)
Libble Rabble (also Japan only)
Assault
Smash TV
Total Carnage
Karate Champ
Virtua ON
Black Widow

Not a long list. Most on here are good games. I'm not sure how well Karate Champ has aged, and I'd love to play Virtua ON some more. But the undiscovered game is really Libble Rabble; Toro Iwatani's -other- game for Namco. Give a spin in MAME, it's worth it!

But I like the games everyone else is mentioning too; just played Robotron last night, and I had the rare privilege of playing a Black Widow machine a month ago at our SC3 collector and Gamers meet.

I messed around with Karate Champ quite a bit when I was young, but most of my dual joystick gaming was done on Smash TV. Virtual On was always a favorite of mine, too, especially in arcades.

Recommend one for me that has a home port and a proper controller.

Virtual ON: Operation Moongate - Saturn
Virtual ON: Oratario Tangram - Dreamcast

Twin Sticks are available for the Saturn and the DC. I must admit, I've never played OM, but OT on Dreamcast is absolutely cracking with the Twin Sticks.

I also really enjoyed Smash TV and Total Carnage. Haven't played either of them in years.

As has been said, Cyber Troopers VirtualOn Operation Moongate (arcade version).

I have the Saturn port with TwinStick and while it's a blast, the arcade experience still can't be topped. I never cared for the sequels.

Crazy Climber series
Smash TV
Total Carnage
Virtual On

...and most of the others listed here!

(and likely others that I can't remember at the moment)

Robotron 2048 - First dual stick game. It was awesome, if not slightly cumbersome due to me not owning the cradle for the 7800 controllers.
Crazy Climber - It was just a fun game.

I keep this puppy hooked up to my Playstation full-time, and it makes Robotron (on Williams Arcade Classics) and Crazy Climber (on Nichibutsu Arcade Classics) as close to the real thing as you're going to get at home without just buying the upright cabinets.

Well the left stick in Steel Battalion only goes left and right :( but I guess the analog on top of that counts as a second stick? :D

2.5 stick? :D

The controller made the game. Had it been slimmed down to the Saturn Twinsticks, the game wouldn't have been nearly as fun. I don't know of any twinstick game that used the controller to fully immerse the gamer as much as this one did.

My favorites have been mentioned quite a bit and I'm quite happy about that. :)

Virtual On and Robotron. *swoons*

One arcade game that I haven't seen mentioned was Vindicators. Yeah, there are many better two stickers but, I liked this game quite a lot growing up.

If you have the Saturn port of Virtual On with Twin Sticks you may as well drop a little bit of money and get the Gundam SideStorys 1, 2 and 3 as well. They're not top teir but, they are enjoyable and if you happen to be a fan of Gundam or giant mecha in general you'll be well pleased. ;)

GunGriffon 2 for Saturn supports the twin stick as well. And it's pretty awesome.
