Nintendo's dust covers

When you collect your games complete, or piece them together (cart, box, etc bought separately), do you also make sure you have dust covers for the game(s)? or do you pick up dust covers for your titles at a later time when you can get them as a lot, etc?

I generally pick up my covers at a later date. My problem is I find NES carts in one place, and there's only one store anywhere close around here (Retro Gamers) at which the sleeves are sold. Thus, I have to make a special trip to get them.

I get extra sleeves whenever I can just so I won't have to worry about games including them. Still need to pick up a few for my games, though.

I've always wondered... Is there a distinction between what games have a solid black sleeve and what games have a Nintendo-labeled one? I really can't remember clearly, and my sleeves have been all mixed up over the years.

Is it a third-party vs. first-party thing?

I pick up extras as I go. I still buy large lots when I can get some games I don't have, and then keep all the sleeves instead of selling them with the duplicates. I've wound up with a bunch of the Funcoland sleeves this way, too, and I think they are kind of cool.

About the nintendo vs. blank ones, I don't know. I always just assumed it was a cost-cutting measure at some point. There are also the metallic nintendo ones, and I wonder where they fit in as well.

I usually pick them up piece by piece as it's hard to find NES games complete in the "wild." With NES- to me anyway, complete means: sleeve, manual and cartridge. With Genesis, I like to have the hardcase... with SNES just the manual will do... and I have been buying boxes for a lot of my N64 games, only because it's impossible to store them on a shelf and see when the games are... Most of the time I have to piece this stuff together because a lot of the boxes haven't survived. And I only have to have the boxes for Genesis and N64 games. This is kinda rambling, sorry.

I always find cart only NES games with no sleeve...so I always buy 5-10 sleeves at a time from sellers/traders here and on GameTZ...once I find and keep enough NES carts to fill those up i'll buy a few more sleeves to fill with games.

I always thought the black sleeves with Nintendo written on them were from games made by Nintendo itself.
