How does that ad appeal to people want a ps 3? I am pretty sure that ad would turn people off from getting Ps 3. The advertising agency doing ps 3 ads needs to go back to the drawing board.
I don't know what motivated an advertising agency to make this ad a first place.

WTF!? Terrible ad (who are they trying to reach women and gays who game? Kind of a niche there) not to mention thats very risque and doesn't really advertise the ps3 much, not as much as it does the naked guy

Oh no! A penis!
First off, I'll wait to see if this is in fact an ACTUAL ad ... nothing about it appears to be real that I can see.
It could be real, but I'll wait for comments from Sony EU/AU to see.
Second ... yes, it's a naked person, a man specifically, and since this ad is allegedly hosted by a Australian *EDIT or Austrian even* LOL site ... it's safe to say that MOST places in the world outside of the United States can handle the naked human form in entertainment/advertising media ...
... it's kind of sad that some people can't handle it and feel the need to make off-color remarks as a reactionary tactic.
But, whatever, I doubt it's even real. (The Playstation 3 logo, not the penis.)

I didnt actually notice the logo... Maybe someone was just too embarassed to do porn so they made it into a fake ad -shrugs- I don't care to be honest. It's just funny.

Agreed. Who cares. People have probably seen worse things online/elsewhere.
This wouldn't be the first time Sony used a very obscure ad for one of their products, anyone remember the promos for the White PSP?

It's not a penis... it's a photoshoped thumb.
Probably suggestion something about a correlation betwen gaming and masculinity.

well, a thumb where a penis ought to be, anyway. Maybe other cultures are, um, stimulated by this sort of ad, but I just don't get how it promotes the PS3. Gaming in general, maybe, but not sony.

First, it's a thumb, not a penis. Second, Frankie is right -- is that for real? There's a Playboy mention on the ad...
It's an ad that fails because it's not obvious that it's a thumb.

haha, I didnt notice either.
I didnt mind before, but its somewhat disturbing with the thumb there . . .
I am also curious if this is an actual ad or not.

LOL, I didn't look close enough (increase the magnification to 100%) to see that it was a thumb!
It didn't help that Kotaku put a NSFW thing over it...
...from a design standpoint, it's WAY too small and subtle, if they wanted to do whatever it is they're trying to do with this ad they should have made it more obvious.

Sacrificing Goats! Now This is Living!
Sony, please, turn down the hallucinogen rationing/budget of your ad department. Thank you.
Sincerely,

PS: If you need help disposing of the "Muse"... I know a guy.
Regarding the TriShock: What do you do with the third analog? OH! So that's why having rumble was such a big deal. ;)
If you thought second-hand controllers were sometimes sticky and gross up to now... just wait. Sharing controllers might not be a good idea either. So remember gamers, know the risks and get tested! LOL
It made me definatly NOT want to buy a PS3. Ever.

Sissy.
Sissy.
So not liking an ad with a naked man makes me the homo? I want more ads like the naked woman in the Saturn ad.
In all serious, I just use the ad as an excuse to hate Sony more. Nothing could ever make me like that company.

It's from an Austrian ad agency. That's a different country than Australia ;)
And the "Playboy forever" is a reference to playing games, not the magazine of course.

Even though I didn't watch it, Do you believe it is real? Remember the "PSP rap" Video with some guy wearing a stupid hat? That video couldn't have been a real ad.

By this point it just seems like the advertising equivalent of a desperate attention-craving child, doing anything he can to try and make you notice him, completely disregarding whatever impact said antics might have on your perception of him.
In other words, they printed a picture of a guy with a thumbdick so that we'd all talk about it, regardless of whether or not the talking just consists of how we all think it's stupid. So the best thing to do is ignore it.

I doubt Sony would ever commit to it & publish it with meaningful intent under their trademark. I can't see it being granted permission on Public Transport, Billboards etc. (well, here in the UK) & I shudder to think how it would be developed as a video based piece of advertising.
Then again, what do I know! I do find it creepy. It's really not making me want to go out & buy a PS3, unlike MGS 4 ads.

...What the Hell? What made you break out the gay bomb, son? There's a naked guy, sort of, but not really... Do YOU see guys making out? I just see a thumb-cock. And if there WERE guys making out, so what? Do we have ourselves a homophobe?
In all serious, I just use the ad as an excuse to hate Sony more. Nothing could ever make me like that company.
Ah. Well, in all serious, that is a pretty bold and honest thing to say, I guess.

Not so seriously: I think this is a fantastic ad by Sony with a subliminal message taking Nintendo head-on: The Wii falls way too short, gamers think with your thumb.
You guys, what do you expect? Sony tries to hack into the womens demographic.
Seriously, I think this is a rather clever and funny ad. It gets your attention for sure. :) (IF this is actually an ad it isn't certainly for the US market, probably for Japan and Europe)

That's just a creepy picture. If they're going to go 99% of the way they should go 100% of the way and include a schlong, not a thumb.
At least then they could be touting the "Dick-axis" capabilities.
Or is it the "Tool-ray" playback?
Possibly an ad for the new "Ratchet and Crank" game?

meh, shitty ad.
Problem is that women will think its stupid because its a thumb (it'd be like [from a man's perspective] if there was a naked woman with feet covering her breasts, it's just dumb)
And most men (apparently not the ones in this thread) will be made sufficiently uncomfortable with the whole thing that they won't look at it long enough to realize the dude's not actually naked.
But the bigger issue is this: why would you make an ad that will alienate your largest demographic? And plus, any women that this ad will attract probably aren't the types that you'd want playing your system, I mean really now.

Agreed.. it should've been a photoshopped thumb on a clit.
