yeah a new sega console would be great. I'm a hardware fanatic so any new machines would be nice. or at least some changes upgrades to the current. I still need to get a ps3 though its the only system I haven't owned yet of this gen

Game developers don't really profit off hardware, and since SEGA has entrenched themselves as true multi-platform developers and really really embraced the work with exclusives on nearly every platform ... it's HIGHLY unlikely that we'll see them have a desire (or more importantly a NEED) to change that business practice anytime soon.
In other words, it's a nice dream, and one that I also have on occasion, but as Steven Tyler says ...
Dream on ...

Don't forget how much they make in foreign and the last American ones with the Triforce system they made with Nintendo and Namco.
They haven't left the hardware game, just the console one.
Mmmm... nachos.

Well, as far as the arcade scene goes, it's not even profitable in Japan anymore according to Namco, who have closed more arcade locations in the past 3 years than any time in recent history.
Sadly, it's eventually only going to be about the home market ... until/unless there's some type of arcade-based innovation that can ONLY be created for/played in that environment ... and with the way things are going, I really don't see that happening.

We, all of us here, should brain storm and come up with something... radical, new, exctiting, getting us to waste our hard earned quarters once more.
