View Full Version : The complete Sega Saturn fullset, 1150 titles!
Finished!
6 weeks after ending my Super Famicom fullset, i ended the Sega Saturn Japanese fullset, which was way easier to achive i must admit.
Now i have the Sega Japan fullset: Mark 3,Game Gear,Megadrive,32X,Mega CD,Saturn,Dreamcast!
I have about 1150 titles (I didn't count precisely,i have some in double factory sealed, etc).
Of course i don't have ALL variations of all titles, as an example if i have Marvel VS Street Fighter Deluxe pack, i didn't buy the normal version.
And i miss many Satakore reprints since i own the original games,etc..
I'll try to get them in the future (some games have 3-4 cover variations!)
Most of the time, i tried to get the most complete version of each title (the Deluxe version then).
90% of my games do have spine cards, i miss around 110 (if somebody is kind enough to let go his spine cards, i can give you my asking list)
I miss 4-5 "softwares" & Video CD like Nissan Collection but they're coming (And for software like Wordpro Ver 1.01,1.00,1.whatever, i do own the most upgraded one, Ver 2.00 which is just fine by me :)
Thanks to the Daigirin book.
Thanks to Satakore list, which helped me complete Daigirin list (like Space Invaders&Puzzle 2X pack,Special Gift Pack et all those Koei Sets,etc..), and let me class alphabetically my games :)
Thanks to Jb for last title i needed (Mizbac no Daiboken,i offered it to him 8 years ago).

That's insane!! I don't think I'll be finishing any full collections any time soon.
Good work!!
Another great finished collection. Which one was the most expensive, and which one was the most difficult to get?
Hardest to achieve, clearly Super Famicom complete in box.
Most expensive should be SFC too,but PC Engine exceeds it IF you count "not for sale games" (like Power League Gold Hucard which is $2500, Darius Alpha with letter, envelope&glasses which is 1500$ minimum, etc)
If you count just " normal releases", then it is SFC i guess.

All I have to say is *wow*.... insane! So, um, I'm curious. What exactly goes on in those 'Playboy' games?
It's multimedia videos,but on CD.
Like VHS back at the time.
Just T&A I would guess.
Thx, Adol, and what was the most expensive Saturn game to get, and the most difficult to find Saturn game?
Just T&A I would guess.
Thx, Adol, and what was the most expensive Saturn game to get, and the most difficult to find Saturn game?
Most difficult are the "combo" games like Emit Value Set,or Sega Saturn Adventure Pack...they just contain regular games( Emit 1,2,3 and Nanatsu no Hikan&Myst for those 2),but finding them is quite a pain in the ass.
Too Mizuki Shigeru no Youkaizukan Soushuuen is hard to find.
Most expensive would be Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru, or my factory sealed Stellar Assault SS, or my factory sealed Crows.

Congratulations on another collection! :bday:
I always enjoy seeing your newest collections, Adol. Thanks for posting them for everyone to see.
Unfortunately, this soon will be the end of it :)
I have to make "new pics" of my PC Engine Hucard/CD/SCD/ACD fullset, with all spine cards since my pics are 3 years old and were missing like 75 spine cards.
I do have to take pics of my Sega Master System fullset, and Famicom Disk System fullset.
After that...i don't have anymore fullsets :(
Maybe Famicom one day, since i own FDS/SFC/N64/DD64 fullset..?
Maybe Gamecube (Only 300 games in Japan)
But i guess that will be it for Fullsets.I'm up to 24-25,i think i've been more far than anyone else, and i'm happy with it.

I don't know why people are so obsessed about money.
I don't earn much money guys,i make like $2000/month. not that big.
But i collect for more than a decade, and spend all my extra money in video games, that's it.

I'm more amazed that you could find certain games for any decent price.
While some may not be 'worth' that much, they are quite hard to find. Theres a few gems in my wishlist that I've never seen for sale.. ever.

Yeah, I don't know why everyone always thinks people with big collections have endless pockets of money. Heck, most people on these forums make way more than we do, but we just know where to look and manage extra stuff in order to get the games.
Exactly.
I could add: Some people would buy for $15000 a Nintendo World Championships Gold Cart,i prefer a Dreamcast fullset. It's a choice.
Some people only care about rare prototypes/samples/development hardware, personally i don't.
I have money, but not THAT much to spend on regular games AND prototypes.
I spend my money in games i like,i know where to look,i bought many games at the RIGHT time (example? Chibi Maruko Chan Deluxe Quiz Neo Geo for 6800 Yens in 1998..sold it $2000 in 2002..WWf Raw MD JPN for 10000 Yens,no worth 6-8 times more).
I remember buying Taromaru in 2000 for 49 French Francs ($10) in France, because nobody cared about it, Dreamcast&PS2 were out!
But i bought too games i loved at the retail price (Chrono Trigger Import for $120),when they're 10 times cheaper now.
Spend $500/month in video games for a decade, that'll make $60k.
And probably more if you bought the ones which grew up in value.

Adol, wow, you have complete sets of my two most favorite systems in the world (and really, when it comes down to it, the only two I *truly* give a damn about these days). Impressive collection, well done.
Couple Q's for ya
1. Which one Saturn game cost you the most? I'm proud myself to say I never paid triple digits for any one Saturn game, and I acquired all the big boys. Crows at $98 was my most.
2. There's a weird JP game I been curious about for years but never got around to finding. I think it might play slightly like Bomberman. Called Magenko T something!! or other, can't remember. But you control like some sort of duck in a single screen trying to pick up eggs? Can you tell me the title of this game and whether it's any good?
3. Your favorite Saturn game(s)?

One question: where do you keep it all? With a growing collection, its obvious that space will be in short supply. Have you thought moving to a bigger place, or are you quite content with your current quarters?
Besides that, excellent collection! My hat's off to you and your devotion, padre.
Saturn and SNES.
2) Yes that's the one. Have you played it? How is it?
3) Just your top favorite Saturn games in general. The ones you hold most near and dear to your heart.
2) No,i have it factory sealed, but i played the PC Engine version of it,and i enjoyed it.
3) RPGs: Far East of Eden Daiyon no Mokushiroku,Lunar,Dragon Force,Ray Earth,Shining Force 3 Scenarii 1,2,3 come to my mind. Falcom Classics or Phantasy Star Collection too,but it's only a "rehash" of older games.
Shoot'them ups: Thunder Force 5 will always be my favourite on the system (i prefer horizontal ones to vertical ones)
Platforms/action: Shin Shinobiden,Taromaru,Astal,Guardian Heroes,Rockman X 4..
Fighting: XMen Vs Street Fighter was really great back at the time

I could have collected 10 times more if i was going to buy any loose game, but i'm only interested in complete in box games, and complete collections.
Otherwise, with 1 Power League Gold Hucard, you could buy thousands of loose nes games.
As i always said,i'm doing "quality over quantity"
Even if, finally,i have a big quantity of complete in box/factory sealed games (near 10000)

Already answered.
Maybe i'll go for SG-1000/SC3000 to have the complete sega fullset (To me i already have it since i was too young to enjoy those games back at the time, but well historically i need them)
Maybe Gamecube, maybe Famicom, or maybe nothing.

Astonishing. So what do you use to record what you have? There must be some way you import a list of all game candidates and can check them off as you go. How often are you getting duplicates?

Extremely often..that's why i have so many Saturn games to sell. I never wanted all of those, but getting lots of games are the cheapest way to get the games at the best price..but you have to sell back the ones you don't need, and i have hundreds now :(
I used Daigirin list
Sega Japanj official list (back when it was online on their japanese website)
this list:http://homepage2.nifty.com/gamedatabase/software/DB_SGC3_SS_top.html

I don't know..You're talking about the Saturn version right?
Got it for 1500 Yens on Yahoo..
Well, having had a quick look on VGI, the Saturn version definitely looks like the cheapest. Sealed copy there for £40, cheaper than a 2nd hand PS1 version.
£120 for the PCE version with a cutout from the magazine .. :yipes:
Feeling quite glad to be Sega fanboy at the moment. Hopefully a bit more searching will find me a decent non-sealed copy for a bit less than £40 ...

The PCE version is rare, because it was only in a magazine..and the CD handles Motteke Tamago but other games as well( so basically you're not buying that game only)..but it goes for 6000-7000 Yens on Yahoo generally :) (more if you have the issue, and the game is still sealed in the issue)
I gave you a link for the game on Yahoo for 3500 Y IIRC,that is way less than 40£?

Because i'm dedicated to find my games, and i look everywhere..?
well perhaps living in Europe helps, since so many European sellers seem to have lots of hard to find games that they kindly refuse to ship to the USA!
I just wish that I could find the few titles that I still want for my collection... I thought that it would be easy to find new copies of all the Koei wargames and other strategy games, but this has not been the case for a few titles that never seem to show up at all on ebay, or they only show up used... I guess they really went nuts over some of these games in Japan, back in the day... some Koei games especially seem to be very difficult to locate sealed!
anyhow, if anybody ever happens across them, I'm still looking for these:
Sakamoto Ryuma
Edo Renaissance
I'll leave it at those for now, although ultimately I'm looking for a few more...

That is superb and awe-inspiring! It is exciting to see such a well put together and exceptional collection. It is really amazing how many factory sealed games you have in there.
I am in the process of collecting all of the U.S. Sega stuff from SMS to Dreamcast. I only need one more game (Daytona Netlink) to have the collection complete. Put us together and we have almost the whole history of Sega.
The question is, where is our PAL counterpart?
My page: http://home.comcast.net/~nebrazca78/segaindex.html
Well,i have almost all japanese sega history, which was the most important to me as Sega is a japanese company.
I do have Europeal PAL SMS fullset though, but only that.
I'm pretty sure people have Dreamcast,Megadrive & Saturn fullsets, because very few games came out on those systems (well, more for MD of course), like USA, half if not quarter of what has been released in Japan.

Well,i have almost all japanese sega history, which was the most important to me as Sega is a japanese company.
Sega is a U.S. company that moved to Japan. Also, Sega consoles were not doing well until after the Genesis took off, which was American only. I think both Japanese and U.S. sets are necessary, and of course the PAL games that were not released in Japan or the U.S.
I do have Europeal PAL SMS fullset though, but only that.
I am working on this one too but very slowly.
I'm pretty sure people have Dreamcast,Megadrive & Saturn fullsets, because very few games came out on those systems (well, more for MD of course), like USA, half if not quarter of what has been released in Japan.
There were nearly 1500 titles released in the U.S. for SMS through Dreamcast not counting Game Gear. How many were released in Japan?

[QUOTE=nebrazca78;1373019]That is superb and awe-inspiring!
I've already got that covered for Sega games in the US, including the Daytona Netlink...= P Actually, I need one BOX for Game Gear. I count Game GEar in the pile of Sega stuff.

And you have to.
SMS,Genesis,Game Gear,32X,SegaCD,Saturn,Dreamcast,right?
But there 's like 5 times less Saturn titles than in japan?
I think that just with japanese saturn&dreamcast (1800 titles) there is more games than on ALL Sega systems released in US,am i right?

Adol: in Japan for most systems, there are always more Japanese fullsets it seems. I personally don't like Japanese game fullsets for collecting myself. Since I don't read Japanese, really not much of a point on my end. I have a decent amount of import games, but I have and always will most be a US collector, but yes, to answer your question, all those have to count. Now if I can just find that stupid True Lies box.

I perfectly understand your point..I didn't read japanese until 12,when i decided i was missing too many good games (PC Engine RPGs at first such as Far East of Eden 2)
And i found japanese covers/artworks SOOOO much better.
But that's a 12 year old boy heart who was speaking..
Good luck in your hunts.
PS:You're looking for True lies box on?Genesis?

DreamTR is looking for True Lies Box on the Game Gear. I too, am going for a US set of Sega, and already have SMS, Genesis, SCD, 32X done. I am about 60 from Dreamcast, and 20 from Game gear. I will probably never finish my Saturn Set, but I have about 150 for that. I collect primarly in person, and in the wild, so I feel lucky finding all that I have. I only use evilbay and the internet when I have to.

Amazing collection...I hope to do the same for some system (that isnt something like virtual boy) in the future when I am getting a nice steady income and can afford to spend so much on games.

That is crazy, I love it.
It funny when people ask "do you play them all", I only have around 150 N64 games and about 120 xbox games and I get that question all the time.
At the starat I would just buy the games I like but after having kids I buy a lot more games just for the sake of trying to collect a full set becouse I know my kids will play just about every game I get.
Nice collection you got there mate.
You gonna put them online into your DP Room of Doom? Mind you, I have noticed that Room of Doom deosn't work at the moment.
