View Full Version : Do the Phantasy Star remakes for PS2 include english text??

There was mention if this in EGM. Why hasnt anyone pointed this out before?? I'm dying to play these, especially PS II. If I can play them on a modded PS2 and get english text I'm all over it.

If you want to play Phantasy Star II on your American PS2, buy the Sega Genesis Collection. It isn't the remade version, though - it's the original Genesis version.

Like it says, the Genesis text adventures have been fan translated.

I have Sega Ages Phantasy Star II. Its the remake, and NO, it has no english. They have changed some of the dungeons too, so straight memorization of the original won't work.

The Anniversary pack that is just ports DOES, the remakes do NOT.

Oh, and for anyone who's familiar with the original Japanese version, how different is the text? Besides the dungeons being a bit different, how much trouble would one have going through the game if one is pretty familiar with the original ?

I can't speak for the original PS, but the story and such is the same in PS II. They have done some major changes to a few of the dungeons, which have you wandering in circles for hours, but other than that, its the same.

Those got canceled years ago, unfortunately. Haven't played the remake of II, but the remake of the first game added enough little tidbits that'd cause some problems for non-Japanese speakers that are familiar with the original game. They should be decently documented somewhere by this point though, so I guess it's worth a look-see.
