So who is waiting for the Metal Gear Solid PS3?

I have been waiting to get a next generation system and I think this $499 PS3+MGS4 package is just what I have been waiting for. Anybody else in the mix for one of these systems? Will they be released the same day as the actual game?

That new GTA looks fun too, sure I'll never beat it. But stockpiling a ton of weapons and seeing how many innocents I can kill before the army comes sounds fun in HD!

However, there will be a normal black 80gb PS3/MGS4 bundle, for $100 cheaper, for sale in stores... And in all honesty, this version sounds like the better deal, because you'll have some PS2 backwards compatibility..

I intend to get a PS3 & MGS bundle. Bah, that Konami bundle is only available in North America...but I'm sure in the UK we'll be getting a bundle of some description, I think. I am very much looking forward to it, I only got into the series on the PS2 & I fell in love.:D

Contrary to popular belief, this series is not known as a very strong system seller. It especially isn't on the same level as GTA or Halo. But we shall see next month just how well it does.

I think it is, if only for the graphical prowess it displays. Remember the MGS2 tech demos? They influenced a lot of people to get a PS2 (or at least become interested), since those clips looked so far beyond what anyone had ever put out before. It did end up shipping 7 million copies, by the way.

So yeah, it doesn't sell as well as GTA/Halo 3, but I think that is has more of an "unseen" effect on sales than people suspect. It's pretty much the only game that has me interested in the PS3...and it'll be hard not to pull the trigger on one when the game drops in June.

I ponder if I get the gunmetal ps3 if i would still get the art book that is supposed to come with the mgs 4 collectors edition , I see no mention of it when I look at the description of the gunmetal ps3 on konami.com.

I got my PS3 specifically with MGS4 in mind, and FFXIII a fairly distant 2nd.

All things being equal, I'm still very happy with the system as both a Blu-Ray player as well as an upconverting DVD player - it does a great job of both of these functions. If it hadn't been for the Blu-Ray & Gaming all in one bundle aspect, I'd have never forked over the $400+.

i'll get a PS3 eventually, I MUST play MGS4, been a fan for 10 years(has it been that long??)..my most anticipated game since MGS2, it'll probably be when the price drops 100$ less in, but that could be 2 years MAYBE.

Wow I was all ready to buy the special 40 gb ps3. But konami thinks we are flaming retards mainly for the fact that they want you to pay 500 dollar insurance at check out when you buy a console.

I waited till midnight myself konami just really fucked up on this one , i would of been happier trying to get this at the stores instead. But if anyone still wants this i got a update if you manage to ring one up you can call the mgs4 bundle customer service and ask them not to charge you for 500 for insurance.
