View Full Version : Any issues with GH3 controller on previous GH games (PS2)?

I originally purchased the PS3 version of GH3, but recently got a real PS2 (the PS3's emulation on certain titles I play was getting to me) and decided to go back to the store and exchange the PS3 GH3 for the PS2 version....mainly because I want to go back and play 1, 2, and encore 80's...games I never played believe it or not.

Now, I have the PS2 GH3 set (wow, it is nearly identical to the PS3 version...except the online functionality of course) and have to wait to payday to pick up some of the previous titles. I think Encore 80's will be the first, and I am a huge 80's fan. Question tho. Are there any known issues with the PS2 GH3 controller working with the previous titles? I wouldn't think so, as it is a PS2 controller, and the previous games are PS2 as well, but I would like to hear from anyone else who is in this situation and have played the older PS2 games with the latest controller. Thanks!

I have the GH3 controller and its works with all of the previous titles.

You might want to go with a different game than Rocks the 80's first. A lot of the songs are poor-quality covers IMO.

That sucks to hear. I'm planning on getting them all regardless, but I really had high hopes for some totally 80's fun :( Ehh, who knows, maybe I'll still enjoy it. Thanks for the info however. I completely missed the boat for some reason when these games came out, I really like GH3, and it's going to be great to give the previous titles a spin.

You can get the GH 1 & 2 dual pack for $60 new. I'd go that way before 80's.

Ohh, that is tempting. I have a father's day gift coming up, think I will be asking for that :)

I'm in the minority that wholly enjoyed the "Guitar Hero Rocks The 80's" release.

Though, I do agree that it was drastically over-priced considering that it has NO bonus tracks and no online mode.

Essentially Activision pulled what was planned as a Guitar Hero 2 expansion out of the development garbage can and slapped a $50 price tag on it. Sad.

I have every Guitar Hero (and Rock Band) release to date, I plan on keeping up with both series in the future ... and I don't really take issue with the quality of the cover songs in Rocks the 80's ... as most Guitar Hero players will agree that the quality of the cover songs in Guitar Hero AND Rock Band are questionable in EVERY game that they're used.
